At the University of Iowa, International Programs functions as a catalyst for internationalization and a hub for international activities. IP administration, faculty and staff have the common objectives of:

- Internationalizing the undergraduate, graduate and professional curricula across departments and disciplines
- Promoting international scholarship, educational exchange and linkages

with individuals and institutions abroad
- Enhancing the Iowa experience for international students and scholars
- Furthering globally-oriented knowledge and activities across the state and in partnership with the state of Iowa
- Helping create a community and society responsive to the increasingly global needs and obligations of citizenship

Originally from Ames, Iowa, Darryl is completing a combined graduate degree program in library and information science (MA) and a PhD in English. He began graduate school at 41, after working in UI Central Sterilization Services.

Congratulations to Emma Anderson (BA international relations and political science ’25), of Boone, Iowa, on receiving a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award to Tajikistan for 2026–27 πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡―

Emma was awarded a 2025 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Persian last summer in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Her time in-country, inspired her to pursue a Fulbright.
