What an incredible concert with the UMKC Conservatory Wind Ensemble on Tuesday, September 29!

We were thrilled to welcome Professor Brandon Draper, Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Kansas, who joined the ensemble as tabla soloist for Reena Esmail’s Chamak!

Led by Dr. Joseph Parisi and graduate conductor Cooper Haywood, the ensemble shared an exciting program by Simon, Ticheli, and Dello Joio, Esmail!

Congratulations to all of our musicians, conductors, and guest artist on a fantastic performance. Thank you to everyone who joined us! 💙💛🦘

What an incredible week with the UMKC Conservatory Bands! Our Conservatory Wind Symphony wrapped up its concert on Thursday, September 24, following an inspiring week with Professor Jerry Junkin, Director of Bands at The University of Texas at Austin and Artistic Director and Conductor of the Dallas Winds. 🎶

Throughout the week, Professor Junkin worked closely with our Conservatory Wind Symphony, shared his artistry and experience in lessons with our graduate conducting students, and spent time working with the Conservatory Wind Ensemble.

A huge thank you to Professor Junkin for spending the week with us and sharing your musicianship, energy, and insight and to Dr. Joseph Parisi for his leadership in bringing this amazing experience to our students!

☀️🍔🌭 Members of the UMKC Bands shared hamburgers, hot dogs, a bit of Kansas City heat, and plenty of Roo energy at the back to school Bands BBQ on Friday! It was a great opportunity to welcome new members of the band family and start the semester together. Dr. Parisi and a few of our GTAs even got a pie to the face, thanks to the Flute Studio Fundraiser! What a great way to start the year!

One of the most celebrated conductors and educators in the wind band world, Professor Junkin, Director of Bands at the University of Texas at Austin and Artistic Director and Conductor of the Dallas Winds, will lead the Conservatory Wind Symphony in its first concert of the academic year. Join us for an extraordinary evening of music featuring works by Gao, Hindemith, Schwantner, and Márquez. You do NOT want to miss this one!
