Since graduating from Amridge University, Dr. Natasha Dominguez’s journey in marriage and family therapy has grown in ways she could not have fully envisioned as a student. What began with becoming a clinician has developed into a multifaceted career encompassing therapy, supervision, teaching, and community advocacy.
Dr. Dominguez is the owner of Shifting Paradigms Counseling, where she provides therapy and clinical supervision, and as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, she supports the professional development of emerging clinicians. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Online Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program at Abilene Christian University, where she helps prepare the next generation of marriage and family therapists.
Dr. Dominguez’s commitment to serving others also extends into the community through her role as a board member for And I Stand, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities facing disparities related to mental health, sexual assault, domestic violence, and the influence of alcohol and drugs through advocacy, education, activism, and support.
"Amridge provided the foundation for my journey as a marriage and family therapist. My education gave me the clinical knowledge and systemic perspective that have remained central to the way I understand and work with individuals, couples, families, and communities.
"Looking back, I can see how that foundation continued to grow with me as my career expanded. The student who entered Amridge with a desire to become a therapist eventually became a clinician, supervisor, adjunct professor, and community advocate. Each step has built upon the one before it.
"One of the most meaningful parts of my journey has been realizing that the impact of this profession extends far beyond the therapy room. Today, I have the opportunity to support clients, mentor clinicians, teach students, and advocate for communities. I am grateful that my education at Amridge was part of the foundation that helped make that journey possible."
