I had the opportunity to speak with students in the Junior Volunteer Program at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford about the Middle Tennessee State University School of Nursing! 💙 I enjoyed sharing information about our program and the path to becoming a nurse. The future is bright with this group of students😎

Dozens of school nurses from across the Midstate came to MTSU this June for hands-on training most of them don't get anywhere else. The School of Nursing partnered with the Tennessee Department of Education on School Nurse Skills Day, using high-fidelity simulation equipment to practice everything from asthma response to tube feeding and diabetes management. The free training filled up fast, and organizers already have a waiting list to bring it back.

Congratulations to Jenny Sauls, who steps down as director of the MTSU School of Nursing on July 31 after 13 years leading the program.

Under her leadership, the school posted a 100% NCLEX pass rate in 2025 and earned an eight-year continuing approval from the Tennessee Board of Nursing with no deficiencies. Sauls joined MTSU in 1990 as a clinical teaching associate, and on Aug. 1 she moves back to full-time teaching.

Thank you, Jenny, for 36 years of service to MTSU nursing students.

💙 Yesterday, we lined the halls to celebrate three incredible leaders who have left a lasting mark on the School of Nursing. We wished Gina and LJ a happy retirement and honored Dr. Sauls as she concluded her service as Director and began a new chapter as Professor.
Thank you for your leadership, dedication, mentorship, and the countless lives you’ve impacted along the way. Your legacy will continue to inspire future generations of nurses. 💙
