We have many resources available to research family members with ties to Creighton University. Complete runs of the yearbook, student newspaper, alumni publications, photographs, and so much more are available through the Creighton Digital Repository.

American Archives Month is coming to an end, but the Creighton University Archives will still be around to provide access to Creighton's history and assist with any research questions you may have!

This week, for American Archives Month, the Creighton University Archives is highlighting the Carlson Fable Collection.

One of Fr. Greg Carlson's passions is fables. Fables often use animals to move us from awareness to attitude. A fable invites the listener to become more self-aware. Fr. Carlson has been collecting fables for 40 years. The Carlson Fable Collection includes over 11,000 books and perhaps as many fable-related objects.

Over the years, fables have been interpreted and presented in many unique and surprising ways. This collection includes examples from around the world, showing how fables have been used in advertising, music, tableware, clothing, collectible cards, stamps, and much more.

The Creighton University Archives and Special Collections is tasked with preserving and presenting Creighton's history. No collection is more central to that goal than the Creighton Family Collection. This collection consists of documents, artifacts, and photographs from Creighton's founding family: Edward Creighton, Mary Lucretia Wareham Creighton, John Creighton, and Sarah Emily Wareham Creighton.

Highlights from this collection include: Mary Lucretia's will (the founding document of the University), a clipping from the original telegraph wire that Ed Creighton helped lay, Mary Lucretia's side-saddle, financial documents, and personal effects from the Creighton Family.

As Creighton gets ready to celebrate its 150th Anniversary, consider setting up an appointment with the University Archives ([email protected]) to learn where it all began!

Creighton students: Enter to win a FREE pair of tickets to Blade Runner: The Final Cut!

In collaboration with Film Streams, Creighton University Libraries and the Institute for Adaptive Intelligence will present Ridley Scott’s science fiction classic Blade Runner: The Final Cut (1982) on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ruth Sokolof Theater, 1340 Mike Fahey St.

Following the film, stay for a panel discussion exploring artificial intelligence and the questions raised by the film, featuring Creighton faculty and library colleagues Michael Paulus, Ian Hughes, Rachel Menzel and Guy McHendry.
