Spooky season begins tonight with the opening of Quite Contrary by Princeton University Marlie Kass ’27 on the Wallace Theater stage. Kass brings new life to an old monster with her original play, a gothic fantasy re-imagining the life of Mary Shelley and the ghosts that haunted the creation of her legendary Frankenstein. A special thank you to musical theater writer and composer Heather Christian for spending the day with us last week on Princeton University's campus visiting with students, faculty and staff. Christian, whose work, Oratorio for Living Things will be performed Nov. 6-8 in the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center, spent the day visiting a theater class, participating in a lunch conversation and providing inspiration at a show's rehearsal.

A major recognition for Princeton Atelier Director and Professor Tina M. Campt: She has been named MoMA’s 2026–27 Scholar in Residence.

The residency supports leading thinkers pursuing independent research with access to MoMA The Museum of Modern Art's collections, library, archives, and other research resources.

Campt, a Black feminist theorist of visual culture and contemporary art, is the author of A Black Gaze: Artists Changing How We See, Listening to Images, and other works exploring how images shape the ways we see ourselves and our societies.
