Today, following our Corporate Communion Mass, the Knights of Columbus Council 9902 invited our parish family to join us in Mary’s Garden for a time of prayer.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” — Matthew 18:20

More than 20 people gathered with us as we remembered our Brother Knight Leo Casares and lifted up those in need of prayer, healing, strength, and peace.

Sometimes the greatest thing we can do for one another is simply come together, bring our intentions before the Lord, and pray.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Please know that our Knights are always here to pray with you.

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Knights of Columbus Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly as a member of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family, and Life. The Vatican announced Kelly’s appointment on Aug. 25.

The dicastery was created by Pope Francis in 2016 to promote, as stated in its statutes, “the apostolate of the lay faithful, the pastoral care of the family and its mission according to God’s plan and for the safeguard and support of human life.” The dicastery is also the Vatican office responsible for organizing the international World Youth Day (WYD).

Yesterday’s event was a huge success!

We had over 30 brother Knights come to help with our breakfast fundraiser throughout the morning.

With the help of our SMM community we collected over 1,100lbs of canned food for our parish House of Mercy Food Pantry.

Come visit us this Sunday after Mass and enjoy breakfast and fellowship.

We are also collecting canned goods for our parish food pantry, House of Mercy.

While all canned goods will be accepted we are hoping for peanut butter donations to specifically help the families with children in our community.

The Knights of Columbus is dedicated to strengthening families and fostering strong Catholic values. The relationship between a father and son is a cornerstone of this mission, embodying guidance, love, and the passing down of faith and wisdom.

Today, 25 men came together for our spiritual retreat as we prepare for the new fraternal year.

Before we can serve our parish, our community, or anyone else, we have to make sure we are keeping God first. Today gave us that opportunity to slow down, spend time with God, and renew our spirits.

We can make all the plans we want for the year ahead, but if God isn’t at the center of what we do, then we are missing the purpose of why we became Knights in the first place. Our faith has to come first, and from that faith comes our desire to serve others.

Thank you to our Brother Knights from St. Henry’s Council 11342 for providing breakfast tacos this morning and pizza for lunch. That’s what brotherhood is about, supporting one another and being there for each other.

As we begin this new fraternal year, may we always remember to keep God first and allow Him to guide the work we do for our parish and our community.
