As AI continues to change the way we work, what skills will matter most? 🤔

Technology can help us solve problems, analyze information and work more efficiently. But knowing which problems are worth solving, making thoughtful decisions and leading people through change? Those skills matter, too.

At Whitworth Online, we believe a strong business education prepares students for more than today’s workplace. It helps them build on the experience they already have, grow as leaders and develop the confidence to navigate what comes next.

The future of business will keep changing, but the ability to think critically, communicate well and lead with purpose will always matter.

What skill do you think will become even more valuable as AI continues to shape the workplace? Comment below. 👇

Is college still worth it? We think there’s more to the question. ❤️

A college education can open doors to new career opportunities, but its value goes beyond a job title or paycheck. It can help us think more deeply, see new possibilities, grow in confidence and discover how we want to make a difference in the world.

At Whitworth Online, we believe working adults deserve an education that supports both their professional goals and their personal growth. Through relevant learning, meaningful relationships and individualized support, we help students build on the experience they already have as they pursue what’s next.

Because the value of an education isn’t just about where it takes you today. It’s about what you’ll be ready to pursue tomorrow.

What’s one thing your college experience taught you that has stayed with you? Comment below. 👇

✨ We’re growing our Whitworth Online family!

Do you love connecting with people, keeping things organized and helping others take the next step toward their goals? Are you someone who appreciates a good laugh, loves celebrating the little (and big!) wins, and never turns down an excuse to share some food with the team? We might be looking for you!

Whitworth Online is hiring a Program Coordinator to help prospective students navigate their journey toward earning a degree. We’re looking for someone who cares about people, brings a thoughtful and organized approach to their work, and wants to make a difference in the lives of adult learners.

And just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of our team: a group that works hard, cheers each other on, laughs together and finds plenty of reasons to celebrate with good food. 😉

Sound like your kind of people? We’d love for you to join us!

We’re so excited to introduce you to Andrea Jimenez Melendez, our new Assistant Director for Online Business Programs! 🎉

Andrea joined our team six weeks ago after a few years of advising students through Washington State University’s Global Campus, and she’s already hit the ground running. So, what is she loving about Whitworth so far?

“I love that as an advisor I get to walk with students from the inquiry stage through to the completion of their program. Doing that in such a supportive environment is definitely a plus!”

We love that, too. ❤️

When she’s not helping students take their next step, Andrea enjoys crossword puzzles, reading, painting and collecting classic Peanuts comics.

Andrea has already been such a wonderful addition to our Whitworth Online family. Help us give her a warm welcome in the comments!

What if your college transcript isn’t the whole story?

If you’ve spent years building a career, leading teams, earning certifications, serving your community or developing skills on the job, you’ve been learning all along.

That experience may have academic value, too.

Credit for Prior Learning gives colleges a way to evaluate learning that happened outside the classroom and, when it meets college-level standards, potentially apply it toward a degree.

It doesn’t mean your years of work automatically turn into college credits. But it does mean your experience is worth asking about.

Before you assume you’re starting from scratch, take a closer look at what you already know.

You may be closer to your degree than you think. ❤️🖤

When we moved into our new digs this past summer, it also meant moving to a hybrid work schedule. While we love our new space, one downside is that some of us only get to see certain teammates in person during our monthly staff development days. And for a team that really enjoys spending time together, those days mean a lot. ❤️

This month, we took the opportunity to learn more about the place we’re lucky enough to call home.

We started with a walking tour of Whitworth’s campus led by Annaclare Splettstoeszer, learning more about the land our university occupies and the history that shaped this place. It was a meaningful reminder that the places where we live and work have stories that stretch far beyond our own time here.

Then we headed out along the Little Spokane River with Wander Spokane to learn more about the area’s history, the dairy farm that reshaped the land in the early 1900s and the ongoing work to restore and care for the watershed. Hearing about efforts to bring salmon back to these waters was a powerful reminder of what thoughtful stewardship and community collaboration can accomplish over time.

We love having the chance to learn together, explore our community and, perhaps most importantly, spend a little extra time together. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

When you look around our campus, you realize there are so many students here earning their bachelor’s degrees.

They’re all working toward something. They’re all learning. They’re all figuring out what comes next.

But they don’t all arrive at college with the same experiences.

Some are just beginning to figure out who they are, what matters to them and where they want life to take them. Others have already lived through careers, relationships, setbacks, successes, unexpected turns and seasons of change.

And that got us wondering:

What advice could our adult students offer other students on campus?

What’s one thing you’ve learned through life that you wish someone had told you when you were just starting out?

Maybe it’s about your career. Maybe it’s about relationships. Maybe it’s about taking risks, changing direction, making mistakes or simply not having everything figured out.

Whatever it is, drop it in the comments below. We have a feeling there’s some amazing wisdom worth sharing. ❤️

We may be known for our pine trees, but there’s a whole lot more growing at Whitworth. 🌲🌿

Our team recently took another campus tree tour, and once again, we walked away with a new appreciation for our surroundings and those who help maintain its beauty.

The last time we took this tour in 2024, we were introduced to this Chinese Spindle tree that was carefully replanted during the Cowles Auditorium renovation in 2019. At the time, it looked like little more than a stick in the ground. This time, we found a couple of new branches, complete with buds.

The resilience of this tree inspired many of us, so we decided to take a group photo by our new favorite tree on campus. We even found several tiny seedlings on the ground nearby, and our resident team botanist, Ken Brown, scooped one up to give it a little extra care. 🌱

We, of course, also learned even more about the many different trees across campus and how they help support all the little wildlife that are part of Whitworth’s larger campus ecosystem.

A special thank-you to Brandon Pyle, Director of Custodial, Grounds & Sustainability, for sharing his incredible knowledge with us and helping us see our familiar surroundings in a new way.

Sometimes, you just have to slow down and look a little closer to discover what’s growing. 💚

Your future is worth seeking. And if going back to school has been on your mind, your next step is just one week away.

Maybe you’re finishing a degree you started years ago. Maybe you’re looking to grow in your career. Or maybe you’re ready to discover what’s next.

A new six-week session starts September 28. You don’t have to have everything figured out. You just have to be ready to take the next step.
