As we continue to observe National Safety Month, we're highlighting TJC's Law Enforcement Academy and Criminal Justice Programs, where students develop the knowledge, skills, and judgment needed to help keep communities safe.

From situational awareness and de-escalation techniques to emergency response and public service, safety is a key part of the training that prepare students for careers in law enforcement and criminal justice.

Camille Marlin’s journey from TJC to Southern Methodist University reflects a trajectory defined by academic excellence, athletic discipline, and unwavering determination. It culminated in her recent graduation from the SMU Cox School of Business.

TJC received a $325,293 Jobs and Education for Texans grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to support training for veterinary technologists and technicians through the College’s Veterinary Technology program. The grant, previously awarded through the 2025 Jobs and Education for Texans grant cycle, was recognized Friday during a ceremony at TJC where TWC Commissioner Brent Connett presented the awards alongside state and local officials and TJC staff.

On weekends, country artist Chris Colston stands beneath concert lights across Texas, guitar in hand, sharing stages with artists including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Allan and Cody Johnson. But, during the week, Colston has been trading his guitar for a laptop as he earned a degree from Tyler Junior College.
