“When I came to William and Mary I knew I wanted to go through recruitment, but what I didn’t know was how much of an impact Kappa Delta would have on me. I grew up with only a brother and was looking for that sense of sisterhood I was missing and I’m thankful every day that I’m a KD. Kappa Delta has given me the most amazing sisterhood a girl could imagine. Whether it’s getting ice cream after chapter with my big because I always have class during fam dinner, or a sister I just met driving me back to my temporary dorm off-campus, this sisterhood is worth traveling all the way to Dallas for the national EMPOWER conference to represent. Because Kappa Delta feels like home☘️”

This week’s is with the splendid Anna!

“I went through recruitment as a sophomore and in many ways was still searching for my place on campus. I watched many of my friends join various sororities my freshman year and decided to give it a try. KD was on my radar; at the very beginning of my freshman year, I met the kindest girl who quelled many of my fears for starting college, and she was a Kappa Delta. Throughout recruitment I found that the sisters of Kappa Delta were just like her: kind, caring, funny, supportive, driven, and more. This has proven more true as I continue as a full member. Meeting my family line, making friends, and taking on appointed positions has helped me grow as a person in ways I couldn’t foresee in a community that I love. It’s given me a place at W&M to be myself and a national network of dedicated women to look up to, one of whom is my mom. If I could go back in time, I would choose KD every time.”

This week’s is with the delightful Sophia!

“It’s almost impossible to talk about my Why KD without talking about my big. The big/little relationship was one of the biggest draws to sorority life for me during rush, as an only child I’ve always wanted that big sister bond. Little did I know, while talking to Lila on sisterhood, pref, and then as my bid day buddy, I would find just what I was hoping for 🫶. On our three hour baby date we drove around Williamsburg talking and talking and talking, and probably still could’ve gone on if it wasn’t almost 11pm. We just clicked! And I’m now so lucky to call Lila my big! I couldn’t imagine adjusting to KD and transitioning into sorority life without Lila by my side being her incredibly caring and funny self and my guiding light. Whether it be Intro to the Taco Bell Menu lessons, failed attempts at Christmas markets, or sitting and talking at her house with her roomates, I always look forward to my next time seeing Lila and am so grateful to KD for putting her in my life. 💝🤗”
