In Honour of the Late Innocentia Cebisile Myeni
A deeply sobering and emotional moment marked the Faculty of Applied Sciences Graduation Ceremony as the Durban University of Technology community came together to honour the memory of late student, Innocentia Cebisile Myeni, who tragically passed away during the festive season break.
Led by the Executive Dean, Prof. Suren Singh, together with the Head of Department, Prof. Daren Lortan, a special posthumous tribute was held in recognition of Innocentiaβs academic journey, dedication, and perseverance.
Innocentia had successfully fulfilled all the academic requirements for her Higher Certificate in Applied Sciences. In honour of her achievement, her official qualification certificate, together with a special token of remembrance, was presented to her mother, Ms. Myeni, and family members during the graduation ceremony.
Speaking with great emotion, Ms. Myeni remembered her daughter as a hardworking and determined young woman who carried big dreams and had an exceptionally bright future ahead of her.
The moment served as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact Innocentia made within the DUT community and among those who knew and loved her.
On behalf of the entire Durban University of Technology community, the Faculty of Applied Sciences extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Myeni family, her friends, classmates, and loved ones during this difficult time.
βHer day is done. Alwehlanga lungehlanga.β
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
