Kingsmead College Courage Always Situated in beautiful gardens in Melrose, Kingsmead is easily accessible from all areas of Greater Johannesburg.

The founder of Kingsmead College, Miss DV Thompson, planned a happy school, and this tradition continues - largely because of the spirit of comradeship between staff and girls and amongst our girls themselves. Girls from Grade 000 (Bluebells) to Matric flourish in the nurturing, yet stimulating environment.

As a new season begins, filled with fresh energy, growth and possibility, we look forward to welcoming our students, staff and families back to Kingsmead for Term 3.

A Proudly South African Moment 🇿🇦

On the final day of Term 2, Kyla Hall, Erin Boyd and Kristin Billett were proudly presented with their South African green blazers during assembly.

These remarkable students represented South Africa at the World Aquatics U16 Water Polo Championships in Croatia during July—an extraordinary achievement that reflects their talent, commitment and courage.

Congratulations to Sophia Pearse!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Sophia Pearse, our Head of Dramatic Arts and Head of Glee 2026, on receiving immediate acceptance to the prestigious Waterfront Theatre School.

With only around 25 students accepted each year from hundreds of applicants, this is an exceptional achievement and a testament to Sophia's talent, dedication and passion for the performing arts.

As Sophia begins her professional training in 2027, we have no doubt that this is just the beginning of an exciting journey towards a career in musical theatre.

That's a wrap on another incredible term!

Our students have tackled a demanding exam season, embraced every challenge with determination, and still found the energy to cheer each other on, take part in Interhouse events and make the most of every moment together.

We hope this holiday brings plenty of time to rest, recharge and enjoy the little moments that make memories.

To our wonderful Kingsmead girls, thank you for your resilience, your enthusiasm and the spirit you bring to our community every day. We are so proud of you.

Honouring the women who changed history.

As we celebrate Women's Month, our students had the privilege of welcoming historical storyteller Michael Charton to Kingsmead for a powerful narration of Strike the Rock.

Through the remarkable stories of Lillian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, Rahima Moosa and Sophie de Bruyn, our students were reminded of the courage, resilience and unity that led the 1956 Women's March and shaped South Africa's history.

Seventy years on, their legacy continues to inspire us to stand together, speak up for what is right, and recognise the extraordinary impact of women working towards a common purpose.
