Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the recent devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet. The scale of loss and disruption to families and communities is deeply saddening, and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected during this difficult time.
In solidarity, Choice Academic College has contributed NPR 150,000 to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, Nepal to support the ongoing relief and recovery efforts on the ground.
To our students and their families who have been impacted by this disaster, we encourage you to reach out to our student support team at the College.

National Minimum Wage increase
If your job is not covered by an ‘award’ or a registered agreement, the National Minimum Wage applies. This makes sure that every worker in Australia is paid at least a set minimum amount per hour. This amount is also reviewed every year.

This year, the Australian Government’s Fair Work Commission has announced an increase in the national minimum wage.

As of 1 July 2026, the National Minimum Wage is $26.44 per hour or $1004.90 per week (based on a 38‑hour week for a full‑time employee).

The new National Minimum Wage is applicable from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026. More info-https://www.studyaustralia.gov.au/en/tools-and-resources/news/australian-minimum-wage-increase

🚫 48 hours per fortnight vs 60 hours per fortnight-Please don’t spread misinformation about student work rights in Australia.
There’s been a lot of chatter online by education agents claiming that international students’ working hours are going to be increased from 1 July 2026- that’s simply FALSE and MISLEADING.
According to the Parliamentary Budget Office, the proposal to increase the work hour cap for student visa holders from 48 hours to 60 hours per fortnight was part of Peter Dutton’s Coalition election commitment that would have been considered for implementation on 1 July 2026 if the Coalition had won the election.
However, the Coalition lost the 2025 federal election, so that proposal is dead- as Labor did not float such proposal during the election or after the election. Please check your facts before sharing, especially on topics that affect international students who are vulnerable and who tend to fall prey to incorrect news shared on social media.

The PBO enriches Australia's democracy through independent budget and fiscal analysis. We inform parliament by providing policy proposals and analysis of the budget and enhancing public understanding of budget and fiscal policy settings.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting events at Bondi Beach on 14 Dec 2025.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this act of terrorism. We stand in solidarity with local community and all those grieving during this incredibly difficult time.
We encourage our students and staff to support each other and to reach out for help if they are struggling.

NSW Premier Chris Minns has urged community members wanting to help the Jewish community following the Bondi terror attack to donate blood.

About MOST
MOST is an evidence-based, digital platform offering free evidence-based mental health and wellbeing support that students can access anytime, anywhere.

Through MOST, young people aged 12-25 across Australia can access free and evidence-based mental health and well-being support, and is available to both international and domestic students.

Orygen Digital received funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care to make MOST available for young people aged 15–25, including international students, to sign up directly without requiring a referral from an eligible service.

Note: Young people aged 12-14, will still need a referral to access MOST from one of MOST’s partnering mental health services located in VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD and WA.

Why now?
October is Mental Health Awareness Month, making this an ideal time to share this resource with your international student community. For any questions or assistance with promotional activities, please contact:
