哪一段大學回憶最令你難忘？💭
對 Angela 而言，是她大三那年的英國交流之旅。🇬🇧

在歐洲生活的半年裡，截然不同的生活節奏讓她深深體會到 “Slow it down, take a moment now” 這句歌詞的意義 🎧 — 停下匆忙的腳步，留給自己喘息的空間，才能用心欣賞身邊的一事一物，感受大自然及生命的美好。🌻

人生不該是一場只看終點的旅程。🏃🏻‍♀️在追逐目標的同時，更要學會好好享受當下的過程。有時候「Take a step back」退後一步，反而能讓我們跳出當下的焦慮，在享受過程的狀態下，反而能發揮得更好。✨

「退一步海闊天空」，有時候向後退一步的視野，往往比盲目衝刺更加寬廣。當你慢下來用心聆聽、仔細觀察🔍，你會發現生活的細節裡藏著意想不到的驚喜，甚至能看清過去步履不停時忽略的盲點。

For Angela, it’s her UK exchange journey in Year 3. 🇬🇧

Living in Europe for half a year, Angela experienced a completely different pace of life, giving new meaning to the lyric, “𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄” 🎧 — prompting her to pause her hectic pace to take a breath. Only then could she truly appreciate everything around her and immerse herself in the beauty of nature and life. 🌻

Life shouldn’t be a race in which we only focus on the finish line. 🏃🏻 While chasing our goals, we should also learn to enjoy the journey. Sometimes, taking a step back helps us alleviate our anxiety; in fact, we often perform better when we embrace the process. ✨

Taking a step back also expands your perspective, revealing new possibilities that are easily missed when blindly rushing forward. When you slow down to listen patiently and observe closely🔍, you will discover unexpected wonders in your life and even identify the blind spots you once overlooked when you were in a rush.

本期我們邀請到 2020 屆環球中國研究西班牙校友 Fernando Albero，和大家分享他獨特的跨學科成長歷程。

中學時期長年接受理科訓練、熱愛邏輯思考的 Fernando，毅然選擇踏入人文社科領域。很多人當時質疑這項決定，但他憑藉開放的心態快速適應全新學習模式。在校期間，哈佛模擬聯合國成為極具里程碑意義的體驗，讓他與世界各地青年交流，練習以多元視角審視全球議題。

畢業之後，Fernando 深耕政府政策諮詢領域。來臨的 2026 年 9 月，他將正式加入世界銀行，參與數位轉型相關項目，在國際舞台持續發揮跨學科所學。

𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 | 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐨 (𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧)

We are delighted to feature Fernando Albero, a Spanish alumnus from the Global China Studies Class of 2020, as he shares his distinctive interdisciplinary journey.

Fernando received rigorous STEM training throughout secondary school and had a strong passion for scientific thinking, yet he made a bold shift towards humanities and social sciences. Many questioned his choice at the time, but with an open mindset, he quickly adapted to a brand-new academic landscape. During his undergraduate studies, 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙫𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙡 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 stood out as a transformative experience. It allowed him to connect with young people from all over the world and practise analysing global issues from multiple perspectives.

Following graduation, Fernando built his career in government policy consulting. This coming September 2026, he will join the 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙠 to work on digital transformation initiatives, bringing his interdisciplinary expertise to the global stage.

Fernando reflects on his decision to switch from science to liberal arts, how the Global China Studies programme shaped his worldview, and offers sincere advice to current students. Fernando received intensive secondary training in maths, biology and chemistry, yet chose to pivot to humanities for the programme’s global perspective and flexible self-designed curriculum. Though many doubted his shift at first, he quickly adapted and flourished within our interdisciplinary learning environment.

During his undergraduate years, Harvard Model United Nations became his most transformative experience, where he exchanged ideas with global peers and brought unique social science insights into diplomatic negotiations.

After years of working in government policy advisory work, he is set to join the World Bank this September, concentrating on digital transformation projects worldwide.
