🎉 Congratulations to Aiji Caballero Umemori, a MSc in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics) [MScFin (FTFA)] student, on winning the Silver Prize (Future Work & Enterprises Track) at the 2026 Inter-University GenAI Hackathon for SDGs! ✨

Working as part of a team with students from universities across Hong Kong, the team developed Lumio, an AI-powered workplace simulation platform that helps graduates build job-ready skills through authentic workplace scenarios and employer-informed assessments. 🤖💼

Their innovative solution addresses a growing challenge in today's AI-driven world by creating meaningful opportunities for graduates to gain practical experience and demonstrate their capabilities to future employers.

The collaboration merges academic expertise with real-world community practice to deliver evidence-based insights for food rescue operations. Also, it creates valuable experiential learning opportunities that deepen students’ understanding of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and active community engagement . ✨

How can a creative idea become a brand, product or immersive experience? 💡
Students from HKBU School of Business recently explored the evolving world of intellectual property (IP) during a visit to CON-CON THE MIX – Blackbox Theatre Moment at Hysan Place, an edutainment platform founded by Ms Lovinia Chiu (Lulu), Founder and CEO of Medialink Group, where they gained first-hand insights into IP development, licensing, brand collaborations, merchandising, and experiential marketing. 🚀

Guided by Ms Renee Sin, Chief Marketing Officer of Medialink Group, students discovered how IP can be transformed from creative concepts into meaningful consumer experiences and commercial opportunities. Through themed experiences across different floors, they also learned how creators, brands and consumers are connected throughout the customer journey. 🎨🤝

Looking back on the Joint TPg Orientation 2026, we were delighted to welcome a new cohort of postgraduate students to the HKBU School of Business community! The event provided an important opportunity for students to connect with faculty members and peers, gain insights into their programmes, and explore the resources and support available throughout their postgraduate journey.

As one of six finalists from across HKBU, Grace presented her research, “Zoombombing: When Video-Conferencing Events Become Suitable Targets for Disruption”. 💻🔍 Her work examines online safety in video-conferencing environments, explores factors contributing to disruptive behaviours in online events, and highlights the need for effective safeguards in an increasingly digital world. 🌐🛡️
