The School of Business Elite Mentorship Programme (SEMP) 2026 marked a significant halfway milestone with an interim gathering held on 22 October at the Student Learning Commons, HSUHK.

This event brought together mentors and mentees to reconnect, review their progress, and share valuable insights midway through their mentorship journey. Many pairs engaged in in-depth discussions, while participants expanded their professional networks in a warm and supportive environment.

The gathering offered a meaningful space for reflection. Mentors shared industry insights and practical career guidance, alongside discussions on how AI is reshaping their sectors, including the associated opportunities and challenges. Mentees, in turn, updated their mentors on their learning journeys, career aspirations and challenges encountered so far. The SEMP aims to connect HSUHK business students with experienced industry professionals to enhance employability, clarify career vision, and build lasting professional relationships beyond the classroom.

The School of Business sincerely thanks all mentors for their time, expertise, and commitment to the programme. We look forward to the continued growth and success of our mentees as the mentorship journey progresses.

The School of Business (SBUS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) successfully hosted the 15th Junzi Corporation Awards Presentation Ceremony on 27 July, recognising 34 organisations across a total of 36 awards for their unwavering commitment to ethical business practices. Alongside the presentations, HSUHK officially unveiled the HSUHK Business Ethics Index 2026, which climbed to 67.2, extending its steady upward trajectory in recent years.📈🎊

This year’s ceremony marked an all-time high in participation, with the number of applicant organisations surging by more than 30% year-on-year. The robust growth reflects growing recognition among Hong Kong enterprises that ethical conduct and corporate trustworthiness are core to long-term competitiveness. To broaden the Awards’ social reach and impact, HSUHK introduced two new categories in 2026: the Junzi Corporation Award (Social Enterprise) and Junzi Corporation Award (Charitable Organisation).🏆 These additions complement the long-standing Junzi Corporation Award and Junzi Corporation Award (Small and Medium Enterprise), and honour mission-driven entities that advance social good and community development.

In total, 34 outstanding organisations were honoured across the four categories: 12 recipients of the Junzi Corporation Award, 13 of the Junzi Corporation Award (Small and Medium Enterprise), 5 of the Junzi Corporation Award (Social Enterprise), and 4 of the Junzi Corporation Award (Charitable Organisation). 🎉

▸Deep discussions with industry leaders, including Hap Klopp (The North Face), Gery Gutnik (Salesforce), Jonathan Reichental (Human Future), and others.

💡 𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐢’𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
“This wasn’t just a trip to Silicon Valley. It was a moment that could change lives.” When students met a founder from HKSTP’s Technothon programme, one whispered: “This could be us.” That spark in their eyes—that belief that innovation can come from anywhere—is what I'll carry forever.

🎓 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬:
“From hearing Hap Klopp reveal ‘failure as the secret sauce’ to decoding AI bottlenecks with top-tier VCs, I realized Silicon Valley’s true moat is embracing asymmetric risk.”
— 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬, 𝐚 𝐌𝐒𝐜-𝐄𝐌 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

“Built an AI gift platform—from not knowing what to give to a complete business plan and pitch. This journey reshaped my understanding of entrepreneurship and made me more daring to act.”
— 𝐙𝐨𝐞, 𝐚 𝐌𝐒𝐜-𝐄𝐌 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

“I built meaningful friendships with my teammates—we shared learning and life experiences that inspired me to dream bigger.”
— 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐞, 𝐚 𝐌𝐁𝐌 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

“This trip inspired me to combine Hong Kong’s global advantages with Silicon Valley’s innovation mindset. I can see my future now—cross-border tech business with purpose.”
— 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤, 𝐚 𝐌𝐁𝐌 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

We don’t have to wait for the “perfect idea” to start. Start small, learn from failure, grow. Silicon Valley showed us it’s possible.

This transformative experience was made possible through our partnership with University of San Francisco.

To all students: your potential is limitless. Believe in “This could be us.” 🦄
