MTU Cork Access Service, in collaboration with Access UCC, is pleased to launch the first Access Linked Schools Calendar of Events.

Designed as a practical planning tool, the calendar enables Access Linked Schools to keep track of important opportunities and activities throughout the academic year, including open days, revision days, camps, information sessions, and much more.

Expressions of Interest are now being taken for the Building Forward Careers Development Programme 2026/27 which is open to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year full-time undergraduate mature students.

This programme has been designed by the MTU Careers Service and is promoted and delivered in collaboration with the Mature Student Officer, MTU Cork Access Service.

It is designed with the specific career development needs of Mature Students in mind. We aim to support you to maximise your career-planning opportunities alongside your academic studies and to provide space to reflect on your career direction and to further develop your career-readiness skills. The emphasis is on creating a supportive environment for making connections, raising your awareness and developing a strong personal career development action plan.

** MTU Student Assistance Fund Update**

Starting from 8th September and running until the end of the semester (including exam weeks), MTU students can grab a Free Healthy Breakfast option at Le Chéile, Bishopstown Campus.

Here’s what’s on offer:
➡️ Free porridge every Monday to Friday 8:15am – 10:00am
➡️ Tuesdays: a limited number of free smoothies
➡️ Wednesdays: a limited amount of fresh fruit

This is a pilot initiative supported by Student Services, Pastoral Care, Student Counselling, the Access Service, the International Office, and MTU Cork Students’ Union.

The 2026 VEX Robotics Teacher Training Day takes place on the 25th September on the MTU Bishopstown Campus for new and returning primary and post-primary schools.

Colleagues from VEX Robotics Ireland, Dell Technologies & Munster Technological University will be on hand to go through this years game with updated rules of the game.

The MTU Cork Access Service Team look forward to welcoming parents, guardians, partners and supporters of incoming Access students (HEAR, DARE and Disability Support Service and Mature Students) to the MTU Bishopstown campus this coming Saturday for the Access Information Session.

This event provides an opportunity to meet the Access team, learn more about the various supports available to students during their studies and to ask any queries you may have in relation to supports as well as fees and finance.

What a great start to the semester!

The Mature Student Support Team was delighted to welcome more than 100 incoming mature students, both first-year and advanced-entry students, to the MTU Bishopstown Campus for our Mature Student Orientation last Saturday.

The event brought together mature students starting full-time undergraduate programmes across Crawford College of Art and Design, MTU Cork School of Music, National Maritime College of Ireland - NMCI and the Bishopstown Campus.

The orientation provided an great opportunity for mature students to meet the team, connect with fellow students, learn about the range of post-entry supports available to them, and receive practical information on fees, funding, and financial supports as they begin their academic journey.

A special mention to third-year mature student Stephen Killeen for sharing his experience and insights as a mature student at MTU.

The orientation followed a busy and productive week of our Preparatory Maths Programme, which gave incoming mature students the opportunity to refresh and strengthen their maths skills ahead of the new semester. A huge thank you to Dr Mark Hartnett and Katie Bullen from the Department of Maths for facilitating this programme.
