Last Friday was a wonderful day of insight and collaboration at the Ladies’ Lounge, hosted by the HSE Dublin and North East region and Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, RCSI, showcasing key developments in women’s health.

Highlights in the afternoon included presentations on VTE risk across the lifespan, menopause and HRT, and preventative female heart health. The HSE DNE Women’s Health Initiatives also shared important work across brain health, recurrent miscarriage, and women’s empowerment.

The session included a panel discussion featuring broadcaster Lorraine Keane alongside Ms Karen McGowan, Ms Carol Kelly, and Ms Roisin Colleran, reflecting on the importance of continued progress and collaboration in women’s health.

Thank you to all speakers and attendees for a valuable discussion.

Today, the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, RCSI was delighted to welcome 25 delegates from the Romanian Order of Nurses, alongside His Excellency Dr. Laurențiu-Mihai Ștefan, Romanian Ambassador to Ireland, for the first of two collaborative visits taking place in 2026.

The visit brings together nursing leaders and professionals to share ideas, learn from one another, and collaboratively explore ways to enhance and support nurses’ wellbeing in Romania through meaningful discussion, knowledge exchange, and international collaboration.

Day 1 featured a range of inspiring talks and workshops focused on flourishing, resilience, and wellbeing in nursing and midwifery, including sessions on mindfulness, sleep and recovery, menopause in the workplace, AI in healthcare, burnout prevention, and meaningful recognition in practice.

Tomorrow’s programme will continue with further guest speakers, followed by a visit to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

This important partnership will continue with another visit in June 2026, as well as four further visits in 2027 involving nursing staff working in high-intensity areas of practice in Romania, including oncology, psychiatry, emergency, and intensive care.

We look forward to continuing these valuable conversations and strengthening international collaboration in support of nurse wellbeing and excellence in healthcare.
