Have you submitted an application for the Student Assistance Fund but your form has not been assessed yet due to the complete/correct required documentation not being uploaded?
While SAF is now closed to new applications, existing applicants have until 1st March to upload the documentation to have the form assessed and be allocated any funding they may be eligible for.

Documentation required for all applicants includes specific Proof of Household Income documents relating to 2024 plus Bank statement header containing name, iban and bic.

Students who are parents also need to upload children's birthcerts

Students who have siblings in full-time third level education should also upload proof of their registration from whichever University they are in.

All applicants received explicit instructions as to what documents are required from them when they applied. Please check these if unsure what to upload. Emailed documents cannot be accepted.

Students are advised to upload the documents well in advance of the closing date as if documents are incorrect or incomplete, they may need time to source the required documents.

The Access and Widening Participation Office staff consisting of Marcella Reilly - Access Officer, Anita Mahony- Fund Administrator and Sinead Campbell- Traveller Education Officer visited all 5 Galway-Mayo campuses over the past couple of weeks to promote funding for students. MABS - The Money Advice and Budgeting Service joined us on 3 of the campuses. We were at the Clubs & Societies Fair on the Dublin Road Campus and the Freshers Fair on the Mayo campus. We met all the first year students in ATU Connemara and ATU Mountbellew and took over half the canteen on the Wellpark campus.
We have seen a substantial increase in the number of SAF applications after the various campus visits.
Visit Student Financial Supports on the Student Hub for details on all funding available.

Galway South MABS was delighted to attend the ATU Financial Roadshow this week at the Galway campus!

Alan Nevin and Nigel Hugo represented our service, joining ATU Galway City staff and other financial support organisations to help students access vital information on financial aid, including the Student Assistance Fund, accommodation assistance, scholarships, and the 1916 Bursary.

Thanks to ATU’s Access and Participation Office for organising such a valuable event.
