The Anime and Manga Society was created from an interest and passion for Anime, Manga and Japanese culture.

It is a place where people can enjoy Anime and Manga and also make life long friendships It is a place where people can enjoy Anime and Manga and also make life long friendships. The Anime and Manga Society is a group which encourages people to be themselves and provides a place in which people with an interest in Anime and Manga, whether it be just watching Pokemon or binge watching multiple anime series during study week, can come and enjoy brilliant shows in even better company. The Society, has a vast manga library which is open to all members; the committee are both hard working and enthusiastic; the events are bi-weekly and planned with the society's members best interests at heart. All aspects of Japanese cultures are celebrated such as the food through taster nights, the music through J-Pop and the language through Japanese work shops with the cultural highlight being Akumakon: the Japanese Cultural Anime and Manga Convention. The main strength of the society is how it acts as a medium through which people can meet others with similar interests and make friends who eventually become like family.

Hi everyone! Halfway through the semester already?! Where does the time go! Even with time flying by, we still have plenty on this week for you to enjoy!

Up first on Tuesday at 7pm in the D’Arcy Thompson Theatre, we will be watching ATTACK ON TITAN. In a world overrun by giant man-eating creatures known as Titans the final remnants of humanity live in a walled city, built to keep the titans out whilst the Scout Regiment explores the outer world and help defend humanity from the Titan threat. Eren Jaeger and his sister Mikasa are two new recruits in the regiment, looking to avenge their dead parents. This show is a titan of the anime industry and worth a watch if you haven’t yet!

As usual, our Manga library will be on Thursday from 1-2pm in The Hub!

Lastly, on Thursday at 7pm in the O’Flaherty Theatre, we will be watching WOLF CHILDREN! This movie has some very devoted fans in the society, so we are delighted to be screening it this week! The story follows a young mother who is left to raise two half-human half-wolf children, Ame and Yuki, after their werewolf father dies. It explores the difficulty of the children finding their identities as both wolves and humans and integrating into society whilst keeping their secret safe. A gorgeous movie with a strong blend of drama, comedy and family themes.

Thats all for this week! Please be sure to support our friends in Akumakon at their Halloween Cosplay Party which is taking place on October 22nd in the Cellar bar! Tickets are available now and all proceeds are going to their Charity partner, Claddagh Watch! More info will be on our story and in our pinned highlights, so please be sure to check it out!

Thats all for this week!

Hi everyone! Here are this week’s announcements!

Winning the discord poll at number one we’ll be Death Note by popular demand! The show follows Light Yagami, a high school student who finds a mysterious notebook which kills whoever’s name is written inside. This leads Light to perform his own vigilante justice as he attempts to clean the world of evil, whilst staying out of the sight of the police who are investigating the murder spree.

Thursday, Manga Library – 1-2pm, The Hub.
For those unfamiliar we have a wide range of manga that any member of the society can borrow! All you have to do is give your student ID number to our librarian and you can take a volume home for the week! Then next week either at our events or at the next library just return the manga you borrowed, and you can grab another. We have a wide selection (including Death Note if you want to read it instead) so pop on down and see if anything tickles your fancy!

Thursday, Delicious in Dungeon Screening – 7-9pm. D’arcy Thompson Theatre.
The runner up in our discord poll is Delicious in Dungeon (Also known as Dungeon Meshi!). A fantasy show where an adventurer party must dive into the depths of a dungeon to save one of their party members from a dragon after being defeated. Due to the urgency of the rescue, they must progress through the dungeon with very limited supplies eating the very monsters in the dungeon to survive!
