Say hello to Nirvana Tapia! Nirvana arrives on our campus this fall to study agricultural business management. She will enter her fifth year of wrestling, and first season as a college athlete. Nirvana has built an impressive wrestling resume, including 3x CIF finalist, 2025 CIF 170 Champion, and CIF runner up at 235. Nirvana is a graduate of San Marcos High School in California, where she was involved in FFA as well. While balancing her high-level extracurricular activities, she maintained a stellar 3.45 GPA. Nirvana chose Alfred State because our college made her feel at home—an important thing for anyone, but especially when you are planning to pursue your education 2600 miles from where you grew up. Nirvana is grateful to have the opportunity to go out of state, and is looking forward to pursuing her passion for agriculture through her major and continuing her athletic career.

Nirvana would like to thank her mom, all her coaches from El Modena to San Marcos, and everyone in between.

Meet Makayla Jimerson! Makayla is a Fredonia High School graduate, entering her fifth season of wrestling this school year. During her time at FHS, her favorite wrestling memory was when she started to wrestle and teach her little brother while she learned. Makayla chose Alfred State to study in our Auto Body program and to wrestle for our team. She is most looking forward to her next chapter in wrestling, making new friends, and starting her career in Auto Body during her time at Alfred State.

Makayla would like to thank her mom for always being there for her, and her little brother for being her number one supporter.

Please welcome Sabrina Macke to our 2026-2027 wrestling squad. From Iowa, Sabrina is a Dallas Center-Grimes High School graduate who maintained a fabulous 3.9 GPA during her four years of wrestling. She is studying Culinary Arts this fall in one of our most hands on learning environments, which was a strong reason behind her commitment to Alfred State. Sabrina looks forward to joining the community we offer, but as she reflected on her favorite wrestling memory so far, she demonstrated just how lucky we are to have her join said community: Sabrina’s favorite wrestling memory is a selfless one—watching her practice partner place at the Iowa state tournament. As she advances her career to the college level, Sabrina would like to thank her mom for pushing Sabrina to follow her heart, and for supporting her along the way. She’d also like to thank her high school coach for not only making Sabrina a better wrestler, but also a better person.
When Sabrina arrives on campus this month, she looks forward to building new friendships, and growing in her learning & we’re looking forward to adding Sabrina to our program!! 💙💛

Please welcome Mallory Denton to our program! Mallory graduated this spring from Webster Schroeder High School and her BOCES construction program with a 3.5 GPA. Coming in this fall as an Architecture Technology student, Mallory is most looking forward to meeting new people and building life long friends and memories. She chose Alfred State because of the numerous construction fields our program spans, which was a great option for her to study what she is passionate about and continue wrestling. Mallory would like to thank her mom, wonderful coaches, and supportive teammates for making her wrestling possible and shared that her best wrestling memory so far is being able to look back at all the friends she made while wrestling and how supportive yet competitive the girls were.

Meet Monique Teal, a 2026 Samuel Gompers High School graduate who we can’t wait to welcome to our program next season. When Monique visited our campus last fall, she fell in love with the environment and the wrestling scene, and chose Alfred State for our hands on nursing program. She has been wrestling for 3 years, and her greatest achievement in her career thus far has been making it to Fargo twice. During college, Monique is most looking forward to pushing her wrestling skills to the next level, “while making better connections and starting a new chapter” for herself.
When asked who she would like to thank for helping her achieve this milestone, Monique expressed deep appreciation for the connections she has made from wrestling, and said, “I would like to thank my family, my coaches, Ms. Fletcher, and my amazing teammates for pushing me above my limits.” Monique graduated this month with a remarkable 3.6 GPA and will be the first in her family to pursue a college degree.

Meet Maddie Labeef, a 4.0 student and 2026 graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, who concluded her 4th year of wrestling this season. Maddie will be studying Forensic Science at Alfred State, which she chose for her next step because it is close to home and a good living & learning environment. While she is looking forward to making new memories while at college, she reflected that her favorite wrestling memory thus far has been creating a family within the Fulton wrestling team and celebrating her team placing 4th in the state twice during her high school career. Maddie is a successful wrestler and comes to the program from an incredible wrestling dynasty. She will be a great addition to our room.

Meet Jazalin Perez! Jazalin is a 2026 HS grad, incoming first year wrestler, and 4.0 student from New Design High School. She plans to study Business Administration and chose Alfred State because she felt a sense of community and authentic support on our campus.

Jazalin has been wrestling for 4 years. Her two biggest wrestling accomplishments so far was earning the New York City Champion title and placing 5th at States. She would like to thank everyone who continues to believe in her and cheer her on, especially her coaches.

During her time at Alfred State, Jazalin is most looking forward to learning new things and making strong connections.
