Today, Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship Inc. honors the life and legacy of Dorothy Height on her birthday. A visionary leader and tireless advocate who helped shape the direction and impact of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). As President of NCNW for four decades, she strengthened the organization’s voice in the fight for civil rights, women’s equality, and economic empowerment. Often called the “godmother of the Civil Rights Movement,” she worked alongside some of the most influential leaders of our time while ensuring that the voices of Black women were heard, respected, and uplifted.
Because of her leadership, NCNW continues to stand as a powerful force for advocacy, education, and community impact. Today, the organization carries her legacy forward through programs that support women and families, promote civic engagement, and address critical issues affecting our communities.
As we celebrate her birthday, we are reminded that her work did not end with her; it lives on through each of us. Let us continue to honor Dorothy Height by walking in purpose, leading with strength, and uplifting the next generation. Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship Inc. is proud to be an affiliate of NCNW Headquarters and work together for a larger purpose for our communities.
