📣 News from the UAB Graduate School: Michelle Gray, Ph.D., has been named the new associate dean for Graduate Biomedical Sciences.
Gray is the Jarman F. Lowder Endowed Professor in Neuroscience and a Professor in the Department of Neurology in the Heersink School of Medicine.
She succeeds Laurie Harrington, Ph.D., who has served as interim associate dean for Graduate Biomedical Sciences since January 2025.

💬 "UAB was my top choice in making the steep educational shift from being a cardiovascular intensive care nurse to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I plan to specialize in treatment resistant depression in a full practice authority state after graduation. 💬 "I am proud to be a two-time UAB graduate! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UAB in 2018 and began my career as a registered nurse in the UAB Highlands Emergency Department in 2019. In 2022, I was honored to become an Assistant Nurse Manager. While working full-time an Assistant Nurse Manager, I began UAB's BSN-to-DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2023, and I am excited to graduate this August. During my final year, I was deeply honored to receive the 2026 Outstanding Graduate Student in Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Award from the UAB School of Nursing. After graduation and successfully passing my board certification exam, I will begin my next chapter as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the UAB Emergency Departments.

"Outside of work and school, I am a wife and a proud mom to two beautiful children who keep life full of joy and adventure. My favorite way to spend quality time is exploring local coffee shops with my husband over a great cup of coffee.
