As part of the Center of Excellence for Next Generation and Creativity, the mission of CCGT is to build a community of interdisciplinary geospatial science practitioners through the support of research, teaching, and outreach activities using technologies that enable the collection, analysis, and application of geospatial data. The Center is dedicated to assisting faculty and students in the integ

ration of geospatial technologies within their scholarly activities across all disciplines at Clemson University and building connections between academic, industrial, governmental and non-governmental institutions throughout the world. The primary home for CCGT is in the Cooper Library, where staffed collaboration and training spaces are available to all members of the Clemson community through a partnership between CCIT and the Libraries.Through this partnership CCGT strives to make resources available to the community, including training and workshops, data services for teaching and research, access to infrastructure for geospatial analysis (ranging from software licensing for GIS through high performance computing), and support for research and proposal development.

We are so excited to announce our Geospatial Data Scientist, Grisha Post, has accepted a new position in the Geography Department at Dartmouth College! In his time with us, Grisha has projects including CDC-grant funded public health database creation, mapping historic land tracts from written documentation, spearheading our innovation with GeoAI, and more. These past two years would not have been the same without you, and we can’t wait to see what you do at Dartmouth!

Intern Spotlight: Sanzida!
One of our fantastic interns this summer is Sanzida Sharmin! This summer, Sanzida has been exploring different methods for 3D modeling in GIS, using large but readily available 3D datasets to extract and model the buildings of Clemson’s campus. The workflow that she is developing will help bring the ability to generate building models from real world data to the wider Clemson community! She has also worked on transforming the 4th floor of Cooper Library into an immersive digital environment to bring into StoryMaps, allowing users to virtually explore the space while demonstrating how interactive storytelling can enhance campus navigation and engagement. Intern Spotlight: Kristy!
One of our fantastic interns this summer is Kristy Cathy Bowen! She’s been assisting with our ongoing efforts to manage content and storage in ArcGIS Online, testing the capabilities and limitations of GeoAI in ArcGIS Pro on our peach detection project, and getting creative with website design using Experience Builder and Codex. We’re so lucky to have you with us this summer, and can’t wait to see what you do next!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to support the humanitarian mapping effort for the areas impacted by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela! Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, over 325 structures within the impacted area were digitized, assisting with the ongoing efforts by providing additional information to help responders better understand the affected areas and prioritize support. We are proud of our Clemson community and anyone else who helped!
