Today, the Columbia College family mourns the loss of one of our own. As family and friends gather in Houston this week to celebrate Janice's life, I wanted to share a few reflections.

Janice Suber McNair '59 was more than one of Columbia College's most devoted alumnae. She was family. For nearly seven decades, she remained deeply connected to the college that helped shape her life, never forgetting the friendships, mentors, and experiences that began here.

When Janice walked across our campus, she wasn't simply returning to a place she once attended.

She was coming home.

Houston Texans Co-Founder and Senior Chair Janice S. McNair passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the age of 89. She is survived by four children, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of

Dr. Imogene "Peggie" Lipscomb.

In 1968, Peggie was recruited to the faculty of Columbia College to establish a program in special education and serve as director of that department. Through her dedication, leadership, and commitment to education, she helped shape opportunities for countless students and educators. She retired in 1995 as Professor of Education at the college, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service and academic excellence.

Please keep her family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
