This is the official page of the University of Missouri of Army ROTC. The cadet corps has grown from 35 to 125 in seven years.

The Army ROTC program at the University of Missouri is one of
the strongest programs in the nation, with most recent graduates leading soldiers in combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan. MU Army ROTC also commissions Lieutenants from other mid‐Missouri campuses, to include Columbia College, Stephens College, and Central Methodist University. MU Army ROTC has grown from producing single digits in the early 2000s, to over 20 commissionees in 2011, tripling its size. Consistently, MU cadets perform at or above the national averages at Advanced Camp (Cadet Summer Training), the 29 day summer camp held for juniors at Fort Knox, KY.

This week, the Tiger Battalion conducted our Squad Ambush Lab! Cadets strengthened their communication, coordination, and ability to work together as a squad in a tactical environment.

We also ended the day with another contracting this semester. Congratulations Cadets Curtis and Appleton!

Last weekend, 16 cadets from the Tiger Battalion traveled to Washington, D.C., to take on the Army Ten-Miler! Events like this provide our cadets with the opportunity to challenge themselves, build camaraderie, and represent the Tiger Battalion beyond Columbia.

Along the way, some of our cadets even ran into John Howell!

Last Saturday, the Tiger Battalion had the honor of kicking off Mizzou Homecoming with a joint color guard alongside University of Missouri NROTC and MIZZOU AFROTC DETACHMENT 440 at the Homecoming Parade.

The day didn’t stop there! Later that afternoon, the Mizzou Army ROTC Cannon Crew returned to the field to support the Tigers during Mizzou’s Homecoming football game.

From representing Mizzou alongside our fellow ROTC programs in the parade to supporting the Tigers in the stadium, it was a great day for the Tiger Battalion to be part of the Homecoming festivities!

Last week, the Tiger Battalion conducted an introduction to the CFT (Combat Fitness Test) and Warrior Tasks.

The CFT is a pass/fail physical assessment designed to evaluate Soldiers’ physical readiness for combat. The test consists of seven continuous events: an initial 1-mile run, 30 dead-stop push-ups, a 100-meter sprint, 16 40-pound sandbag lifts, a 50-meter water can carry, a 50-meter movement drill (25-meter high crawl and 25-meter 3–5 second rushes), and a final 1-mile run, all completed in under 30 minutes.

The Tiger Battalion conducted a modified version of the test, featuring a 0.5-mile initial run and 0.5-mile final run. Cadets also received hands-on instruction and practice with Warrior Tasks, building the skills and physical readiness needed in the field.

Shoutout to Cadets Fiame and Walls for helping construct the 65-inch platforms used for the CFT’s sandbag lifts! Their hard work helped make this training possible and gave cadets a safe, sturdy setup to practice the event. We also want to thank all the cadets who helped fill the sandbags. This training was truly a group effort!

The Tiger Battalion conducted our first AFT (Army Fitness Test) of the semester!

The AFT consists of 5 physical events that assess strength and endurance, including a 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Hand-Release Push-Ups, the Sprint-Drag-Carry, a Plank, and a final 2-Mile Run.

From the first event to the last, our Cadets pushed themselves and brought their very best. Great work, Tigers!

This week, the Tiger Battalion hit the range for a day of Basic R***e Marksmanship (BRM).

Cadets received Preliminary Marksmanship Instruction (PMI) before working with M4 carbines. Our MS3s worked on grouping and zeroing while also refining Table VI skills. Meanwhile, our MS1s and MS2s built their marksmanship fundamentals through classes covering PMI, BRM, and more before handling.

Meet Lovie and Valley!

September is National Service Dog Month, and we’re taking the opportunity to recognize two very important members of the Mizzou Tiger Battalion: Lovie and Valley. Lovie and Valley are service dogs provided by Retrieving Freedom, Inc.

These service dogs are trained to assist veterans and children with autism spectrum disorders. Lovie and Valley have become familiar faces around the battalion, providing companionship, support, and plenty of smiles along the way.

We’re grateful to have these two as part of the Tiger Battalion family! Thank you Retrieving Freedom, Inc. for providing us with this opportunity!

Last weekend, the Mizzou Tiger Battalion joined fellow Army ROTC cadets from our task force, Task Force Mid-Missouri, including Missouri S&T, Lincoln University, and Truman State University, to complete our Fall Field Training Exercise (FTX) at Fort Leonard Wood.

Throughout the weekend, cadets experienced a variety of hands-on training events and were able to put their military skills to the test. Key training highlights included day and night land navigation, EST (Engagement Skills Trainer), and warrior skills training; ASIP radio assembly, TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care), M240 and M249 familiarization, and more. Cadets also challenged themselves through the PEC (Physical Endurance Course) and rappel tower.

The FTX provided cadets with opportunities to build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and apply the skills they have developed in ROTC training in a field environment. Working alongside cadets from across the task force also allowed our cadets to learn from one another and strengthen the bonds between our programs.

The Mizzou Army ROTC Cannon Crew was back in action last Thursday at Faurot Field.

Alongside University of Missouri NROTC and MIZZOU AFROTC DETACHMENT 440, our cadets helped present the colors as part of a joint color guard. Throughout the game, MIZZOUKA, our cannon, fired off a round for every Tiger touchdown while our cadets proudly matched the score with push-ups.

We’re proud to continue a Tiger tradition dating back to 1895. Catch the Cannon Crew at the next home football game!

Donuts with the Dean 🍩

Mizzou Arts & Science Dean Cooper Drury made his annual visit to the Tiger Battalion yesterday morning at PT! Cadets had the opportunity to share a few donuts and conversations with Dean Drury before starting their day. We always appreciate his continued support of Mizzou Army ROTC and our cadets! Thank you, Dean Drury!
