The CoastalLIFE Program provides an alternate pathway to college for young adults with moderate intellectual disabilities.

The CoastalLIFE Program at Coastal Carolina University was developed to provide an age-appropriate educational experience for young adults with moderate intellectual disabilities. LIFE students attend college courses, live in on-campus student housing, and participate in campus activities. They have full access to campus resources and facilities and are recognized as Coastal Carolina University students. CoastalLIFE aims to help these young adults learn how to live independently, gain knowledge in their chosen areas of interest, and gain employment skills to obtain meaningful employment.

💙 Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month! Our LIFE Program freshmen had the opportunity to visit our seniors at their jobs and see firsthand how they are building skills, gaining experience, and making an impact in their workplaces. We’re so proud of our students and all they continue to accomplish as they work toward greater independence and meaningful careers! 💼
