The College of Fine Arts and Design is comprised of the Departments of Art, Dance, Design and Theatre Arts as well as the School of Music and ACM@UCO.

The College of Fine Arts and Design is a center of excellence for the fine and performing arts, as well as a center of innovation for improving and promoting arts education. Founded in January 2001, the college combines the experience of Oklahoma’s oldest public educational institution with groundbreaking thinking about the role of the arts on the 21st century. This innovative academic unit of faculty, staff, programs and disciplines has a unique mission and global vision focusing on arts education, arts technology, interdisciplinary programming, arts entrepreneurship and promoting global arts studies not as a distinct subject, but as integral to each discipline. In addition to the Department of Art, Department of Design, School of Music, Department of Theatre Arts and Department of Dance, the college operates a Technology Office, Development Office, Marketing and Communications Office, galleries and collections, performing arts facilities and the Oklahoma Center for Arts Education. The College of Fine Arts and Design nurtures leadership qualities in students, thus expanding the scope and qualities of their career opportunities. The value of creativity, arts literacy, communication, problem solving and discipline in the computer age makes the arts relevant to every field.

The UCO School of Design’s 16th Annual Illustration Show, “Cattywampus,” celebrates the creativity, growth and hard work of students completing their Illustration minor. This capstone exhibition is a milestone worth celebrating — and a chance to see what these emerging artists can do!

🎶 Learning from the best!

UCO senior Kylee Hall recently took the stage for a flute masterclass with Demarre McGill, principal flutist of the Seattle Symphony, during his visit to Oklahoma City.

Sponsored by the Oklahoma Flute Society, the Oct. 25 masterclass gave Kylee a special opportunity to perform “Poem” by American composer Charles Tomlinson Griffes, accompanied by Samuel Magrill, D.M.A., and receive guidance from an accomplished professional musician.

A senior instrumental music education major, Kylee studies with UCO Professor of Flute Emily Butterfield, D.M.A.

Experiences like these help UCO music students grow as performers, deepen their musical understanding and prepare to share their passion for music with others.

🩸 Meet some of the UCO Theatre Arts students bringing "Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really" to life!

We’re excited to introduce four members of the cast of Kate Hamill’s darkly funny reimagining of the classic vampire story.

Dracula, but make it a revenge fantasy. 🩸

Kate Hamill’s “Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really” takes Bram Stoker’s gothic classic and turns it on its head — putting Mina Harker, Lucy Westenra and the women around them at the center of the story.

Part horror, part dark comedy, this adaptation takes a story readers have known for over a century and hands it to the women who were always at the center of it.
