The Stampede of Sound is getting ready to bring the energy to campus! 🥁🎺

UCO’s marching band has been hard at work this week, preparing for the 2026-27 season and building the teamwork, friendships and memories that make being part of the band so special.

President Todd G. Lamb recently stopped by a rehearsal in Plunkett Park to visit with the band and see the Stampede of Sound in action.

Led by Marty Marks, D.M.A., the band is welcoming performers of all experience levels and preparing for a season full of performances, school spirit and plenty of moments they’ll remember for years to come.

Classes are almost here. The Stampede will be ready. 🐎💙

From exhibition design in China to luxury interiors in the Bay Area —

Interior Design alumna Jingying Chen (BFA '23) started her career designing exhibitions and events in China, discovering how spatial design can shape emotion and experience. That instinct followed her all the way to UCO — and now guides her work as a Design Consultant with Roche Bobois, a French luxury furniture brand, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

One of her favorite projects, though, brought her back to Oklahoma: the performing arts center and educational spaces at Sapulpa High School.

"Seeing the community rally together to fundraise and bring our design vision to life reminded me how meaningful and impactful thoughtful design can be."

Jingying says UCO taught her something she still relies on every day: how to balance creativity with real-world practicality — vision and ex*****on in equal measure.

Her advice for current students? Be patient. Stay curious. Your first job doesn't define your whole career.

From a small-town Oklahoma auditorium to high-end homes overlooking the Bay, Jingying's story is a reminder that good design speaks the same language everywhere.
