Mason Global Education Office

Mason Global Education Office The Global Education Office (GEO) is George Mason University's hub for study abroad.

The Global Education Office (GEO) organizes a wide range of international study, research, service, and leadership opportunities for the George Mason community. The office provides expertise and assistance in managing the numerous administrative and operational concerns specific to study abroad. Study-abroad activities include international programs for undergraduates, graduates, and professionals seeking knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the culturally diverse society of the twenty-first century. GEO manages a variety of international programs in nearly fifty countries: short-term programs during the winter and summer breaks, semester and year-long programs (including faculty-led semester programs in Florence, Madrid, and at Oxford University), intensive language courses, and international internship opportunities. GEO also organizes cultural tours for the Mason community.

Mission: We provide accessible international learning opportunities for students at Mason and beyond. We are student-centered and committed to Mason's values of a student engaged with the world.

During my semester abroad, I had the opportunity to travel (well maybe eat is the more appropriate word) throughout Italy, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany, and Hungary. Experiencing these different cultures and meeting different people has profoundly impacted my understanding of the world. I'm so thankful for the opportunity Mason gave me to broaden my mind and perspective. These experiences are what really distinguishes studying abroad from studying in Fairfax. #travel #studyabroad #oxford @ University of Oxford

Being surrounded by centuries of history is part of what makes studying at Oxford so amazing. I was placed in New College, which was founded in 1379, and the Bodleian Library where I spent most of my time studying was founded in 1602. You just can't find this much history in the US. It was both humbling and inspiring to walk amongst so much history and knowledge. #oxford #historybuff #studyabroad #newcollege #bodleianlibrary @ Bodleian Libraries

Good morning, Mason! My name is Emma Gregory, and I'll be taking over the GEO Instagram page today! I'm a junior studying environmental science with a concentration in conservation. Last term I studied at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. I completed two tutorial courses- one in Natural Resources Conservation and the other in Environmental Humanities. It was the most challenging, but also most rewarding, terms of my academic career, and I'm so excited to share my experience with you today.

Meet our PAGE, Jiordan Carter! Jiordan is a senior Sports Management major at Mason who had the opportunity to study abroad in London during the Fall of 2017 and in South Korea last Spring. One of Jiordan’s most memorable moments of her exchange was getting to see the Men's USA hockey team win gold at the PyeongChang Winter Paralympics. Jiordan advises students to take advantage of every opportunity while abroad and encourages them to step outside their comfort zone.
