A portion of the proceeds benefit Indiana Bulldog Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives and welfare of English, Olde English and French Bulldogs through rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming.

What can you discover about your future in just a few days in Chicago?

Over fall break, Crystal Longinos ’27, a Marketing and Photography (Jordan College of the Arts) major, joined a Chicago Career Trek organized by Butler’s Career and Professional Success (CaPS) office.

From visiting organizations like Edelman, Highdive and Google to connecting with alumni and exploring Chicago’s culture, Crystal gained new perspectives on career paths she hadn’t previously considered.

“This opportunity helped me build connections, learn from professionals, and gain a broader perspective on future opportunities. I would encourage any student to participate, regardless of their major, because the connections and insights gained can be incredibly valuable!” Crystal says.

Experiences like these connect students with professionals, introduce them to new possibilities and help them envision what’s next.

For Dr. Alexander Mitchell, marketing is about more than selling a product. It’s about understanding people, challenging assumptions and asking why consumers make the choices they do.

At Butler’s Lacy School of Business, Dr. Mitchell helps students look at business decisions from new perspectives and explore how marketing connects to everyday life. His own journey into the field also shows how trying something unexpected can lead to a new direction.

His advice? Stay curious, ask questions and be open to where your interests might take you.

At the Lacy School of Business, learning happens far beyond the classroom.

For Beck Janki, balancing Finance and Supply Chain coursework with football, campus involvement, and internships has given him opportunities to put what he’s learning into practice — while developing the time management, discipline, and confidence to take on whatever comes next.

That’s the kind of preparation we want for our students: an education that challenges them, experiences that stretch them, and the confidence to bring their best to every opportunity.

: Some afternoons, going above and beyond for our students looks a little different than you might expect.

Beth Falkenbach, the Lacy School of Business’s administrative specialist and “director of first impressions,” recently spent an afternoon on the golf course with six members of Butler Men’s Soccer — who also happen to be LSB students!

It’s a small moment, but one that captures something special about Lacy: the relationships that extend beyond our classrooms, the people who show up for our students, and the little things that help make Butler University feel like home.

Because at LSB, being invested in our students means more than what happens between classes. It’s about getting to know them, cheering them on, and making sure they know they belong here.

What does a career in venture capital, private equity, or entrepreneurship look like beyond the classroom? For members of Butler University’s Private Venture Association (PVA), a recent trip to San Francisco offered a firsthand look.

Over two days, students connected with founders, investors, and Butler alumni working across industries, from fraud prevention technology to health care innovation and real estate. Through office visits, conversations, and a venture capital panel, students gained valuable perspectives on the people, ideas, and opportunities shaping today’s business landscape.

Senior Finance and Entrepreneurship & Innovation major and PVA President Mariah Richardson captured the experience along the way.

Tonight, Butler Entrepreneurship & the Private Venture Association (PVA) hosted Meet the Minds, a speed mentoring and networking event connecting students with 65+ executives, founders, and investors.

Through focused, one-on-one conversations with professionals, followed by an open networking session, students had the opportunity to learn from leaders across entrepreneurship, private equity, venture capital, and angel investing.

These are the experiences that take business beyond the classroom—building connections, exchanging ideas, and learning firsthand from the leaders shaping what’s next.

As a finance and entrepreneurship student, Preston Asher ’27 has made the most of every opportunity — from leading student investment research through Bulldog Reports to gaining hands-on experience at J.P. Morgan, where he’ll return after graduation as a Commercial Banking Analyst.

Along the way, he’s built businesses, mentored fellow students and connected with professionals across Indianapolis and beyond.

His journey is a testament to what can happen when you stay curious, build meaningful relationships and don’t put a ceiling on what you think is possible.
