The online Master of Legal Studies program helps professionals build the legal knowledge and skills needed to navigate complex regulatory environments and different industries.

Students gain knowledge of legal doctrines relevant to industry settings, build competency in legal research and professional writing, and strengthen their ability to collaborate with attorneys and regulatory bodies.

The curriculum also emphasizes ethical decision-making and responsible legal practice for non-lawyer professionals.

"My experiences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law have been incredibly enriching, and the LL.M. program has played a fundamental role in shaping my legal career as a current attorney in Wisconsin," said Bhanu Singh. "The LL.M. program introduced me to American law and gave me a deep understanding of the American legal system. Applying this knowledge, I passed the Wisconsin bar exam and became a licensed attorney, and I can confidently say that UMKC played a significant role in helping me achieve this milestone."

One of our most recent graduates looked a little different than the rest of his classmates. Nugget, the service dog of Rebekah Arwood (J.D. '26), received a "juris dogtor" in recognition of his time at UMKC School of Law. Nugget has attended classes and student activities with Rebekah for the last two years and was a familiar, welcome face to many on campus. We'll miss his happy presence and wagging tail, but we know Rebekah and Nugget will do great things!
