Fogler Library is one of the key intellectual focal points of the University of Maine. As the largest library in the state, we house over 1 million print volumes, and provide access to approximately 50,000 electronic journals, numerous subject databases, government documents, maps, and more. After months of work, we've launched Specto, a new home for UMaine's digital scholarship and unique collections. Pedagogical Practices for Teaching Sustainability 🌎📚

Our world is navigating ecological overshoot, rising global temperatures, and accelerating climate disruption. The question is no longer if change is here. It is how we prepare our students to meet it with creativity, courage, and community.

Join us at Fogler Library for a fast-paced, energizing 90-minute Salon designed to spark collaboration and action.

This interactive session will use Open Space principles to help participants:

🌱 Share resilience-focused teaching ideas
🤝 Connect with local partners and community collaborators
♻️ Identify ways to embed regenerative practices, adaptation, and community engagement into coursework
📘 Design teaching plans aligned with Maine’s bold climate goals and Gov. Mills’ safety guidelines

Whether you teach biology, art, history, engineering, or anything in between, you will leave with concrete next steps and perhaps a few new allies in your corner.

A video recording and a document summary of the small group work will be shared after the session.
