Preparing for a program interview is important because it helps to transform you from a passive applicant into a confident, deliberate candidate who can clearly prove their value.

Staff advisors can work with students on their interview preps for those who submitted their applications this season. This is the heavy process for programs across the nation who are trying to select their top candidates so your goal is to stand out!

Schedule with Grace Leal or Josh Deason for assistance. (Btw, Grace Leal will be joining the UC Riverside Med School Interview group this year to assist during the winter break to help narrow down their pool of applicants and get a first hand experience of what their interview process will look like.)

Having the wisdom of those who came before us like our medical students is a bonus many don’t have as a pre-health student. Here at UNR, those who enroll into our ACE 101 class are fortunate to have the opportunity to hear from our medical students and tour the facility of our University’s medical program. Thank you so much to Nick Dunkle, UNRSOM Coordinator of Outreach and Retention, all of our MS2 panelist, and MS1 Tour Guides. We appreciate your wisdom and mentorship to our aspiring medical students who someday will also be our future healthcare providers!!

Shadowing to get clinical observation experience is essential in understanding the potential healthcare field you might want to pursue. It is only by being in its environment and asking providers what their day to day grind looks likes - what are challenges, the ethical dilemma as well as the rewards - that will help you determine if the field is a good match for you! Here are our suggestions to have a successful shadowing experience!

We are past the half way through ACE 101! Our TAs have been working with our major PackPods talking to them about time management strategies, prioritizing academic and healthcare experiences, while building meaningful attributes. Today we went over the med school’s PREView exam to help students take a sneak peek into their future preparation. Hoping to make a solid foundation for all of our pre-health students to succeed!
