It may be summer break, but learning never stops when interning with industry! NowDecatur offers us a glimpse of what one of our BAE students, Paige Waldrip, is up to this summer during her internship with ADM. Paige is entering her second year of interning with ADM, and we look forward to hearing all about her experience with the process engineering and the interesting connections she makes along the way.

Listen in to Paige and Robbie's full interview here:

From leadership presentations to hands-on team-building activities, ADM’s summer intern orientation gave students an inside look at the company’s global operations and workplace culture. Hear directly from interns Paige Waldrip and Robbie Colbert Jr. about what excites them most as they prepare ...

It's not summer in Oklahoma without logging some wheat pasture hours, especially during the most recent field day in Lahoma. Class of 2026 Biosystems Engineering graduate, Eli Reynolds, demonstrated a phenotyping rover produced in the BAE lab this past year. Dr. Ning Wang instructed and worked with BAE research students Eli Reynolds and Brady Holzapfel to develop a solar-powered and remotely controlled cart to support collaborative research being done with Dr. Amanda De Oliveira Silva in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. The rover is equipped with instruments and sensors to quantify phenotypes of wheat (physical expressions of the genotype or genetics). We're excited to see this interdepartmental collaboration rolling through amber waves and progressing wheat research.

Another exciting multi-state, multi-institution, interdisciplinary project featuring BAE is getting ready for lift-off! Dr. Sumon Datta, the Oklahoma Mesonet and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board are partnering with Kansas State University and the Kansas Water Office on a new NASA-funded research on regional forecasting and irrigation scheduling tools.

We look forward to seeing this collaboration in action!

It may be the first day of summer, but we're still reflecting on a great round of senior capstone projects. Newly graduated engineers Harrison, Douglas, and Jacksen partnered with local business owner Logan Miller on the design and prototype for a seed-metering system to supplement his own no-till drill design. You can read more about that project below, but if you know of a project that could benefit from the BAE Senior Design program, please let us know!

Oklahoma State University engineering students made their mark on the future of agriculture in their senior year by contributing to research on a technology that could change the way farmers plant seeds.

To our BAE moms - thank you. For the endless support, for being the loudest cheerleaders, and for every moment in between; we owe our students' success to the people who held their hands for the first steps and then entrusted us with the next ones. Here's to celebrating you!
