Please welcome Alice Tian, our new BAE Research Lab Manager. Alice joins us from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. Previously, she was a research specialist. We embrace and encourage a departmental culture that rewards thinking outside the box, working hard, and always, finishing what we start in order to achieve our goals. Our students had to pivot last week to change their original fundraising strategy during Walkaround™ to a new one, with roughly 72 hours left to intensively plan and prepare a whole new concept. In this endeavor, they were extremely successful, thanks in part to trusting each other, communicating thoroughly, and showing up when it mattered most. By showing up for each other, they showed up for our OSU and Stillwater communities, serving hundreds of meals and adorning dozens of holiday displays.

This story comes at a great time, as we are officially kicking off PhilanthroPete 2026. This time, we are working towards endowing the BAE Engagement and Support Team Honorary Award. While this award was established in part to recognize the staff that support our students, its primary focus is to provide scholarships to students who are actively engaged in the department through the department's different student organizations and activities.

This weekend's students are excellent examples of being active in the department and engaged in supporting our different student organizations and activities. Please join us in thanking Zane Ball, Raegan Brannan, Dakota Brown, Brennen Crowe, Jackson Deuillet, Owen Evicks, Trevor Hendrix, Nathan Kraft, Thaddeus Malchoff, Addison Slavin, Aidan Shelton, Ethan Stone, Jared Stone, Riley Styers, Re*****on Wade, and Mark Wenstrand.

The Cowboy Code teaches us several things about community and overcoming adversity. Being a Cowboy is in our character; we stand together through challenges, and we uplift memories even bigger than the sky.

Today marks 11 years since the passing of legendary BAE faculty member, Dr. Marvin Stone, and his wife, long-time OSU staff member, Bonnie Stone. The Stones' are remembered by their peers as being kind with their words, generous with their time, and dedicated in their actions. We strive to continue to uphold their legacy and their impact on our students, faculty and staff, and our Stillwater community, always.

"Homecoming Week is a special time to reflect on what it means to be a Cowboy. 🧡 As an OSU ag alum with ties to Marvin Stone's hometown of Flagler, Colorado, it was an honor for The Orange Door to provide bows for Marvin and Bonnie Stone's memorial benches on campus. A small gesture of gratitude for their legacy, and the Cowboy Code they embodied. Go Pokes!"

Walkaround™ is almost here! Tomorrow evening from 5-9 PM, BAE student organizations will be on Monroe Street fundraising. This is a great opportunity to connect with our BAE family, bringing together our students, program alumni, faculty and staff members, and their families, ahead of the continued festivity of America’s Greatest Homecoming™. We look forward to seeing you out there!

Visiting during America’s Greatest Homecoming™ is a great way to stay connected to the department, and we're looking forward to seeing our students' families, program alumni, and Stillwater community members this weekend. There is not a more fitting time than Homecoming week to announce that BAE alumni and faculty emeritus Dr. Ronald T. Noyes is to be honored as a 2026 OSU College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Hall of Fame inductee this November. Additionally, Dr. Noyes will receive the Lohmann Medal for his contributions to agricultural engineering, research and education.

Dr. Noyes has had a massive impact both on and off campus. Through Extension programs, he provided education and training to workers at more than 400 Oklahoma grain elevators, helping improve grain quality, operational safety, and sanitation measures. He has previously been recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in 1993, as the OSU Sarkeys Distinguished Professor in 2001, and served as a Fulbright Specialist in grain storage from 2014-18.

Dr. Noyes and his wife, Zona, have been dedicated supporters of furthering academic opportunities for BAE students for many years, including an endowed scholarship in the department, sponsored academic facilities in Ag Hall and Farmhouse fraternity, and as student organization sponsors for Cowboy Motorsports. The department and our ASABE students look forward to welcoming Dr. Noyes back to campus in a few weeks for Hall of Fame festivities.

us to represent Oklahoma State University and the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering for America’s Greatest Homecoming™ in many different ways - and our students always answer that call with excellence.

Macy Young (BE) and Stinson Burns (AST) are showcasing their character values and community engagement skills on this year's Homecoming Executive team as Executive Director and Campus Outreach Executive, respectively. From coordinating activities on campus to generating impact for the community off campus, their hard work and dedication is on full display. We all look forward to continuing to enjoy their efforts this week and all the spirit still to come.

BAE student organizations partnered on their sign this year, set up on Sunday by Trevor Hendrix, Dakota Brown, Nathan Kraft, Riley Limkemann, Raegan Brannan, Sam Phelps, Riley Styers, and Ethan Stone. Setting up these projects takes teamwork, as do the activities these organizations will participate in throughout the week.

We hope to see many of our local community members visiting with our student organizations during the Harvest Carnival on Tuesday, Walkaround™ on Friday, and along the parade route Saturday morning!

The Seniors of Significance Award recognizes students who exemplify the University’s land-grant mission via academic achievements and personal impact. The 58 seniors recognized this year represent the top one percent of seniors across all five OSU undergraduate academic colleges. Alec, Ethan, Macy, and Madison represent both the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology and the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
