OSU's own Dr. John Tetnowski has made remarkable contributions to our field and positive impacts on many people who stutter, their families, students, clinicians, and researchers. It is wonderful to see Dr. T, and the important work taking place here in CDIS, recognized and celebrated by the National Stuttering Association. Congratulations, Dr. T!

Dr. John Tetnowski, an Oklahoma State University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders professor, has received the National Stuttering Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award and been inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame.

Summer around CDIS means camps. We have autism and literacy camps starting in a little over a week, but we've already had the massively successful Cowboy Aphasia Camp! Campers get outstanding language and communication therapy, and our graduate students get the opportunity to work with adults with aphasia during an intensive week on the OSU-Tulsa campus. It's a win-win!

We are sad to share news of the passing of Jan Marks, a former professor in our department. Jan was faculty of Communication Sciences and Disorders for nearly 40 years, including around its inception in the late 1970s. She served a variety of roles as a faculty member, but she was best known for her work as a clinical supervisor and instructor in the area of early intervention. Jan's funeral is tomorrow, June 2nd at 2pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater. You can also read her obituary here. As sad as it is to lose a former colleague, we are filled with gratitude for the generosity of Jan and her family in starting an endowed scholarship to support future CDIS students! You can contribute to the Janet Marks Endowed Scholarship fund here: https://secure.osugiving.com/s/giving/annual?dsgt=20-03700.

Hey, folks. If you have time for a survey, consider the request below!

*************************************
Hello,
I’m writing because I am an Audiology Doctoral student working under the mentorship of Dr. Brittan Barker, an Associate Professor in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Utah State University and we are conducting a research study with Audiologists and SLPs practicing in the United States.

We are specifically interested in better understanding Audiologist’s and SLP’s pathways that led them to careers in speech and hearing sciences. As a first step towards this understanding, we are conducting a survey study with Audiologists and SLPs who have worked in the U.S. for at least 1 year.

If you qualify and would be interested in participating in our study, you can follow this link https://usu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5dOK0zNxYPfVCQu and complete the survey. The survey is estimated to take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

If you have any questions about our study, or if you are interested in helping—please call the lab at 435-797-5748. If no one is available to answer the phone, please leave a message and they will return your call promptly. You can also reach out to the Aural Rehabilitation lab via email at [email protected] for more information.

Please feel free to share this information with your colleagues that might be interested in helping with our study, IRB #15881. Thank you for your consideration.
