GELE 2026 is a wrap!

And while the zip line may give main character energy, GELE is about so much more. It’s about bringing together students from diverse backgrounds, with unique perspectives, and creating space for them to connect, learn from one another, and grow as global leaders.

During this weekend-long global leadership retreat, students explored what it means to interact across differences through meaningful conversations, engaging activities, and interactive sessions designed to deepen their understanding of culture and strengthen their ability to lead in intercultural settings.

We’re so grateful to everyone who made GELE 2026 such a meaningful experience! 🌎💙

Penn State celebrates 80 years of Fulbright!

Penn State is a nationally recognized top producer of Fulbright Scholars and was proud to be a sponsor of the 80th Anniversary Conference of the Fulbright Association, held October 23–25 in Washington, D.C.

During the conference, Penn State hosted a plenary panel highlighting the innovation and impact of our Fulbrighters, featuring Penn State alumni and faculty.

Plenary panelists included:
Karly Feinberg ('19), Founder of Idea to Impact, LLC
Pearl Gluck, MFA, Penn State faculty and former Penn State Laureate
Dr. Carter Hunt, Penn State faculty
Dario Zimmerschied, Penn State, a PhD candidate from Germany.
Dr. Jody Pritt moderated the panel.

After the panel, the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and Penn State Global co-hosted a small reception for Penn State Fulbright alumni living in the D.C. area to reconnect, share their Fulbright experiences abroad, and catch up on all things Penn State.

The Global Engagement and Leadership Experience (GELE) is a weekend-long global leadership retreat where we explore what it means to interact across differences.

Our trained facilitators will guide you through fun and reflective activities designed to develop your understanding of culture and your ability to strategize, work and lead in intercultural settings, a crucial skill for any academic major or future career. 😉

Global Safety Network will be unavailable Aug. 1-16 as we transition to a new platform.

The current GSN system will remain available through the close of business on July 31 and will be offline from Aug. 1–16 during the transition. This means that University-affiliated travel occurring during August must be entered into the current GSN system by July 31.

The current Global Safety Network system will remain open until close of business on July 31. The system will then be unavailable between Aug. 1 and Aug.16. During this period, new travel records cannot be created or submitted, so all University-affiliated travel occurring during the month of August...
