Twas the night before orientation,
And all through the halls,
Not a student was stirring—
Just emails and calls!
The scrubs were laid out
With the stethoscopes too,
In hopes that tomorrow
Would bring something new.
The nursing students were nestled
All snug in their beds,
While visions of NCLEX
Danced in their heads.
And faculty in their offices,
With coffee in hand,
Were getting things ready
For the newest nursing band.
When out in the hallway
There arose such a cheer,
“We’re ready for nursing—
Our first day is here!”
So welcome, new nurses,
To Cumberlands with pride!
Your faculty and classmates
Are here by your side.
You’ll learn, you’ll grow,
You’ll laugh and you’ll cry,
You’ll practice your skills
And reach for the sky.
With compassion and courage,
With knowledge and care,
You’ll become the kind of nurse
Who makes a difference everywhere.
So rest up tonight,
Tomorrow’s the start—
Bring your brains, bring your courage,
And bring your whole heart!
