✨Happy Hour with the President：
✨ Happy Hour with the President: VC Visits the College to Share His Journey of Entrepreneurship✨
Last Friday, the College was honored to host the “Happy Hour with the President” event, and we were delighted to welcome CUHK Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming to join us and share with SHHO students his invaluable journey of entrepreneurship.
During the talk, Professor Lo looked back on his earlier research on non-invasive prenatal testing and non-invasive screening for Down syndrome, and explained how he applied research outcomes to early cancer detection for the benefit of society. He also shared moments from his step-by-step entrepreneurial journey — transforming years of hard work and accumulated outcomes into real-world applications. In the face of the AI era, Professor Lo also discussed how researchers can combine their own strengths with the advantages of AI to create even more possibilities.
The sharing session was warm and heartfelt. In a relaxed and comfortable setting, students were able to engage in close, direct conversations with Professor Lo and speak freely, reflecting the College’s “home-like” atmosphere.
To thank Professor Lo, the College Master Professor Vincent Mo Chung-tong and the College's Dean of Students Professor Edwin Chan Ho-yin presented President Lo with an exquisite photo frame featuring the College’s signature style and printed with the Chinese character “家” (home). In addition, representatives from the College's Student Union, Ho Tim Hall Resident Council, Lee Quo Wei Hall Resident Council, the Medical Society, and the International Student Association prepared a series of thoughtful souvenirs, including the College T-shirt, Ho Tim Hall T-shirt, Lee Quo Wei Hall T-shirt, an adorable teddy bear, and a name badge. Towards the end of the event, Professor Lo mingled with the students — enjoying refreshments while continuing the lively discussion.
Thank you to Professor Lo for his inspiration and encouragement. His personal experience helped students realise that to succeed on the entrepreneurial path, one must not only be brave enough to keep trying, but also maintain an open mindset at all times! 🌟
