We provide a series of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

For the undergraduate programme, we aim to prepare students to be professionally competent social workers who are committed to the welfare of their clients and to social justice. For the postgraduate programmes, we provide advanced training for the development of professional and academic leaders in the social welfare field. Students in different programmes are encouraged to develop independent and critical thinking, identify with the humanistic values and ethics of the social work profession, maintain a special concern for the vulnerable groups in society, and keep abreast of current social issues.

感謝大家參與中大社工系 Info Day 2026！當日我們透過各項活動，吸引約 5,500 位參加者，5 場入學講座共有764人出席，場面熱鬧。很高興見到大家踴躍參與小組分享及體驗活動，進一步認識社工系課程及學習生活。🎓✨

我們很高興為大家宣佈，本系陳季康教授聯同張瀞文教授及Ms. Ling Lin，發表了題為「The mediating role of self-efficacy in the association between family support and mental health among Taiwanese adolescents and youths in low-income families: a half-longitudinal mediation model」的最新論文。📄✨

對於來自低收入家庭的青少年，讓他們感受到家庭支持，其自我效能感亦相對更高，也更滿意自己生活。研究發現，家庭支持令青少年覺得生活美好，提升其自信心，令他們心理更健康。然而，家庭支持對減少抑鬱、焦慮等負面情緒的作用相對不算明顯，反映正面、負面心理健康可能需要不同的支援方法。⚠️🧠

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Ji-kang Chen from our department , together with Prof. Ching-wen Chang and Ms. Ling Lin have recently published a new paper titled “ The mediating role of self-efficacy in the association between family support and mental health among Taiwanese adolescents and youths in low-income families: a half-longitudinal mediation model”. 📄✨

Among adolescents and youths from low-income families in Taiwan, family support is positively associated with self-efficacy and life satisfaction. The study shows that family support predicts positive, but not negative, aspects of mental health, and that self-efficacy mediates the link between family support and positive mental health. These findings highlight the need for differentiated approaches to address the positive and negative dimensions of mental health.⚠️🧠

世界精神健康日由世界心理衛生聯盟（World Federation for Mental Health）在1992年發起，目的是希望公眾對心理健康有更多認識 🧠，減少污名化 💬，藉此喚醒大家對精神健康的關注及發展。🌍💙

我們很高興為大家宣佈，陳季康教授、Chaoyue Wu及Zhiyou Wang近日發表了題為「Sex-and Age-Based Comparative Analysis of the Pathways from Parental Attitudes Toward Corporal Punishment to Adolescent Psychological Distress and Victimization in School Through Harsh Parenting Practices」的最新論文。

研究訪問了台灣近 900 個家庭，探討家長對體罰的態度。其嚴厲管教如何影響青少年在校被欺凌，以及如何影響其心理壓力。研究發現，家長會進行體罰，未必直接對子女受害或情緒帶來負面影響，但會令家長更容易以嚴厲、粗暴的教育方式，有機會間接增加青少年在校被同學欺凌、經歷被老師作負面對待的機率，以及造成心理困擾。而當中不同性別、年齡的青少年，其受影響程度亦有所差異。⚠️🧠

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Ji-Kang Chen, Chaoyue Wu and Zhiyou Wang have recently published a paper titled “Sex- and Age-Based Comparative Analysis of the Pathways from Parental Attitudes Toward Corporal Punishment to Adolescent Psychological Distress and Victimization in School Through Harsh Parenting Practices”.

Based on data from nearly 900 parent–child dyads in Taiwan, the study shows that parental support for corporal punishment is not directly associated with adolescents’ victimization or emotional difficulties. Instead, it is associated with harsher parenting behaviours, which in turn are indirectly associated with higher risks of victimization by peers, negative treatment by teachers, and psychological distress. These pathways also differ by s*x and age. ⚠️🧠

是次研討會請來杜克大學的Prof. Nathan Adam Boucher，探討如何透過訪談、小組討論、顧問委員會及以服務使用者需要為本的設計🧩，讓長者、家庭照顧者、醫護人員及社區組織參與研究，從而更深入了解社區需要，令研究更貼近實際生活，並有助制定更公平及有效的社會政策。🌱⚖️

Research informing public policy should go beyond medical records, clinical data and administrative information. It should also listen to the lived experiences of people in the community. 👵🏻👴🏻Older adults’ everyday needs, the challenges faced by family caregivers, and the professional insights of frontline workers👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️are all essential to developing better social care services.🏘️

This seminar welcomes Prof. Nathan Adam Boucher from Duke University to explore how interviews, focus groups, advisory councils and user-centred design🧩can involve older adults, family caregivers, healthcare professionals and community organisations in caregiving research. Through meaningful community engagement, researchers can gain a deeper understanding of community needs, ensure that research remains relevant to people’s everyday lives, and contribute to the development of more equitable and effective social policies.🌱⚖️

👧🏻🧒🏻 當兒童求助或舉報受虐後，需要接觸警方、醫護、教育、社福界等不同人士。各專業部門工作領域上的差異，可能令本身已受創傷的孩童更感壓力。如何減少孩童在求助時的創傷，並讓其得到更完善的支援，是兒童保護工作的重要課題。💭

是次研討會請來愛丁堡大學的Prof. Christopher Wretman，跟我們探討蘇格蘭近年推行的「Child’s House」政策。🤝 此模式透過跨專業部門合作，讓不同機構合力支援受虐兒童及其家人，保障兒童安全，讓他們得到公平對待，走上復元之路。🛡️⚖️🌱

Yet traditional responses can vary across police, health, education and social work settings, and may feel traumatic and draining for children. Improving coordination and making the process more supportive for children and their families are key priorities in child protection.💭

Join Prof. Christopher Wretman from the University of Edinburgh as we explore Scotland’s “Child’s House” model. 🤝 Through co-located, multi-disciplinary and inter-agency service delivery, the model seeks to simplify and improve responses to child abuse, while supporting children’s rights to safety, justice and recovery.🛡️⚖️🌱
