Lisa Grogan didn't come to Kingstown College to change careers. But that's exactly what happened.

In 2020, Lisa was working in a leadership role within the dental industry.
Her goal was straightforward: develop her coaching skills, become a better manager and bring more value to her team.

But somewhere along the way, something changed.

What started as professional development became the beginning of an entirely new career.

“The course became the catalyst for so much more.”

Today, Lisa is the founder of Lisa Grogan Coaching, where she combines nearly two decades of dental industry experience with her passion for coaching, leadership and human behaviour.

She now works with individuals, teams and organisations, helping dental professionals strengthen their leadership, improve communication and grow their businesses.

Her journey has also taken her onto international stages, where she shares her expertise through speaking engagements, workshops and professional training.

And her connection with Kingstown College (https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0zrK4Q0) didn't end with her first qualification.

Lisa went on to complete our Corporate Wellness programme and continues to invest in her development through our coaching community and educational webinars.

Reflecting on her experience, Lisa describes attending Kingstown as “a life-changing experience and genuinely one of the best decisions I have made.”

We're incredibly proud to see what Lisa has gone on to achieve, and delighted to have played a part in her journey. 💙

Sometimes, the most meaningful career opportunities are the ones we never originally set out to pursue.

Would you hire a coach without professional qualifications? 🤔

It's an interesting question, particularly as the coaching profession continues to grow.

According to the 2025 ICF Global Coaching Study, 73% of coaches believe clients and organisations expect professional coaching credentials.

But it raises a bigger question.

While qualifications can demonstrate professional training and a commitment to recognised standards, experience, empathy and the ability to create meaningful change matter too.

So, where should the balance lie?

💬 We'd love to hear your perspective:

What matters most when choosing a coach: their qualifications, their experience, or the connection you build with them?

26/10/2026

Coaching creates freedom for two people. We rarely talk about one of them.

We often talk about the freedom coaching gives the client.

The freedom to think openly. To explore challenges without judgement. To be heard without someone immediately offering a solution.

But there's another kind of freedom that's just as important.

The freedom experienced by the coach.

The freedom from feeling responsible for fixing everything, having every answer or knowing exactly what comes next.

In our latest Faculty Conversations, Sam Argent, an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC), Executive Coach and Kingstown College faculty member, shares a thoughtful perspective on this often-overlooked side of coaching.

With an MSc in Personal and Management Coaching, Sam brings extensive experience in executive coaching, resilience and mentoring developing coaches.

Her message is a powerful reminder that coaching isn't simply about creating space for someone else.

It's also about allowing ourselves the freedom to be fully present, without the pressure to fix.

💬 How often do we feel responsible for solving someone else's problems, when perhaps what they need most is simply space to think?

After 30 years in coaching and leadership development, what could still impress Georgina Corscadden?

As CEO of Peak Connexxion, an Executive Master Coach and psychologist, Georgina has spent decades helping people and organisations unlock their potential.

So when she reflected on her time studying at Kingstown College, what stood out?
It wasn't about having all the answers.

It was about an environment where every question was welcomed, every perspective was valued, and nobody was made to feel their contribution mattered less than someone else's.

Whether you arrived with years of coaching experience or none at all, everyone had something valuable to bring to the conversation.

No judgement. No pressure to be right. Just genuine curiosity, mutual respect and a shared commitment to learning.

And perhaps the most meaningful endorsement came in Georgina's own words:

“Of all the studies I've done, it was the one that I probably just loved the most.”

🎥 In our latest Graduate Stories video, Georgina shares what made her learning experience at Kingstown College so memorable.

From tech leadership to a new career in coaching. 🚀

For Kingstown College graduate Gilles Varette, what began as an interest in coaching became something much bigger.

While working in the technology sector, Gilles enrolled in our Diploma in Personal Development and Executive Coaching, discovering a practical, reflective approach to learning that would influence both his professional and personal development.

He went on to complete further diplomas in Mental Health & Wellbeing Coaching and Team Coaching, applying his learning to leadership, workplace wellbeing and mental health initiatives along the way.

Then, in 2025, Gilles took a significant step, leaving corporate life to pursue coaching full-time.

Today, through his practice GetUnstuck, he works with leaders and teams to support sustainable performance, leadership effectiveness and organisational wellbeing.

His journey is a wonderful reminder that coaching education doesn't always mean starting a new career. Sometimes, it begins by transforming the way we approach the career we already have.
And sometimes, it leads somewhere entirely new.

👏 Thank you, Gilles, for sharing your journey with us. We're delighted to celebrate your achievements and proud to have been part of your story.

We know what we need to do. So why don't we do it?

We set goals. We make plans. We convince ourselves that this time, things will be different.

Yet knowing what needs to change and actually making that change are two very different things.

Perhaps the answer isn't more ambitious goals, bigger commitments or trying harder.

Perhaps it's simply doing the smaller things, more consistently.

As James McLeod PCC (https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0zbjGv0), Executive Coach and Kingstown College faculty member, reminds us:

"Consistency beats intensity."

In our latest Faculty Conversations video, James explores the gap between knowing and doing, and why meaningful progress often starts with slowing down rather than speeding up.

💬 What have you found more effective when making a change: a big initial push or small, consistent steps?

"Day one, I thought I was on the wrong course."

It turned out to be one of the most valuable lessons Kate Rooney would take from her coaching education.

After years in leadership, where having the answers was often expected, Kate encountered a completely different approach at Kingstown College.

You're not the expert.

Instead of imparting knowledge, coaching was about helping others uncover their own insights.
That shift challenged Kate to slow down, reflect and fundamentally rethink how she approached conversations.

🎥 In our latest Graduate Stories video, Kate shares the lesson that changed her perspective.

🏉 Meet the former Welsh international helping shape the future of coaching.

Introducing Dyddgu Morgan-Hywel, one of the exceptional professionals behind the learning experience at Kingstown College.

A former Wales international rugby player, Dyddgu earned 31 caps for her country, competed in two Rugby World Cups and eight Six Nations campaigns, and represented the Barbarians.
But her achievements extend far beyond the rugby pitch.

With a Master’s in Education, a background as a Principal Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University, and extensive experience in executive wellbeing coaching, Dyddgu brings a remarkable combination of elite performance, academic expertise and leadership insight to our faculty.

And we're particularly excited about what comes next.

As Kingstown College continues to expand internationally, Dyddgu will play a leading role in developing our presence in Wales, with new coaching courses planned for the coming months.

Her experience, passion for education and understanding of sustainable high performance make her a fantastic addition to this next chapter.

We're delighted to have Dyddgu as part of the Kingstown College faculty.

Could the next five years be a turning point for professional coaching?

The latest research points to an expanding coaching industry. But what makes the future particularly interesting isn't just the growth in numbers.

It's how the world of work is changing.

According to the 2025 International Coaching Federation (ICF) Global Coaching Study:

🌍 The number of professional coach practitioners worldwide reached a record 122,974.

📊 Global annual coaching revenue reached an estimated $5.34 billion.

🎓 73% of coaches surveyed agreed that clients and organisations expect professional certification or credentials.

And there's another important trend.

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 identifies resilience, adaptability, leadership and social influence among the skills expected to grow in importance through 2030.

As AI and technology transform the workplace, the ability to support human development, navigate change and develop others could become increasingly valuable.

The opportunity isn't simply about producing more coaches. It's about developing highly skilled, professionally trained coaches who can respond to these changing needs.

At Kingstown College, that's the future of coaching education we're committed to supporting.

💬 Where do you see the greatest opportunities for professional coaching over the next five years?
