🎉 Congratulations to PhD student Emma Moran on the publication of her first primary study as part of her doctoral research journey.

Emma’s paper, "Women’s and multidisciplinary team members’ experiences of care and discharge from an Irish specialist perinatal mental health service: A multiperspectival interpretative phenomenological analysis", published in Midwifery journal, makes an important and timely contribution to the area of perinatal mental health. Her work provides valuable insights from key stakeholders including women who have attended services, into the components of effective specialist perinatal mental health services and discharge processes. Emma’s findings highlight the importance of person‑centred, relational care, with women valuing flexible, individualised approaches to discharge.

Yesterday marked International Nurses Day, and at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Limerick we are honoured to be educating the next generation of nurses — including four remarkable UL students who are continuing a powerful family legacy.

It is inspiring to see Patrick Cregan, Clodagh Williams, Sam Williams and Ciara Neenan follow in the footsteps of their mothers and aunts — the five O’Keeffe sisters who joined the Mid West nursing workforce in the 1980s and have collectively contributed more than 175 years of nursing experience.

Their story is a testament to the compassion, dedication and generational commitment that define the nursing profession.
