In June, Brother Michael Murphy of CK32 Drogheda spent a week on the road for the cause of Venerable Matt Talbot, bringing the relics and the film to Longford Cathedral with the Legion of Mary, to the Carmel Horan Prayer Group in Offaly, and to Sligo Cathedral with Brother Barry McMahon and the Brothers from Sligo. The relics come next to St Mary Star of the Sea, Killyleagh, on Friday 6 November.

€93,105.60 RAISED FOR BRÚ COLUMBANUS!

What a year. What an event. And what an incredible result!

We're absolutely delighted to announce that this year's Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle raised a phenomenal €93,105.60 for Brú Columbanus!

We were so privileged to be selected as a Tier 1 beneficiary of this year's cycle, which raised an extraordinary €1,060,133 for charities across Ireland.

Seeing so many worthy causes come together at the cheque presentation last week, and hearing about the difference these funds will make was a fantastic reminder of what this event is all about.

But behind our €93,105.60 total are the people who made it possible.

Almost 200 cyclists took on the 170km Ring of Kerry route in support of Brú Columbanus this year. That's 170 kilometres of hills, tired legs, unpredictable Irish weather and sheer determination!

We're also so grateful to KKR, whose staff once again took to the roads in support of Brú.

A very special thank you must also go to the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle Committee. The dedication, planning and countless hours of work that go into organising an event of this scale are remarkable. Year after year, you bring thousands of people together and generate life-changing support for charities across Ireland. We're proud to have been part of it.

And to the volunteers, sponsors, supporters, donors and everyone working behind the scenes, thank you. An event like this simply wouldn't happen without you.

So, what will €93,105.60 mean for Brú Columbanus?

For us, this year's fundraising comes at a particularly exciting time.
We provide free, home-from-home accommodation for families who need to be close to loved ones in Cork hospitals. And while we're proud of the twelve thousands of families we've supported over the years, we know there are many more who could benefit from having somewhere to stay during an incredibly difficult time.
That's why we're working towards expanding our accommodation facilities, allowing us to welcome and support even more families in the years ahead.

The money raised through this year's Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle will go directly towards that ambition.

To everyone who played a part in raising this incredible €93,105.60, thank you from all of us at Brú Columbanus.

You've given us so much to celebrate this year, and even more to look forward to.

There are two questions to ponder here. What is the kingdom of God like, and to what should you compare the kingdom of God? Whether you are aware of it or not, you have thoughts about what God is like. You have ideas and images about what a kingdom should be like. It could be like a mustard seed, a grain of wheat, or anything that you conjure up in your mind. Allow your imagination free rein and pay attention to whether you are moved to pray with your mind or your heart.

Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles

Gospel Reading

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke
(Luke 6:12–19)

Jesus went out into the hills to pray; and he spent the whole night in prayer to God. When day came he summoned his disciples and picked out twelve of them; he called them ‘apostles’: Simon whom he called Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon called the Zealot, Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot who became a traitor.

He then came down with them and stopped at a piece of level ground where there was a large gathering of his disciples with a great crowd of people from all parts of Judaea and from Jerusalem and from the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon who had come to hear him and to be cured of their diseases.

People tormented by unclean spirits were also cured, and everyone in the crowd was trying to touch him because power came out of him that cured them all.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Gospel
Luke 6:12-19
‘All night he continued in prayer. And he chose twelve, whom he named Apostles.’

In these days Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he named Apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.
