In honor of Billy Greene’s legacy and the “Let’s Save Some Lives” initiative at Alfred State College, we are proud to share that since January 2026, we have trained 168 people in CPR, AED, and life-saving skills throughout our community.
With our currently scheduled classes, we will be just under the 200 mark by the end of May.
Billy’s story continues to inspire this mission every day, reminding us that help is never too far away when a community comes together.

Student parking lots 3 (by SLC), 19, 20, 20A and 22 (near Pioneer Stadium/Orvis) and Faculty/Staff parking lots 3 (near SLC) & 21 (near Orvis) will be closed Friday March 20th from 4pm through the completion of the Open House on Sunday afternoon. If you are traveling and leaving a vehicle on campus for the weekend please make sure that it is moved out of the closed lots before you leave. Students may park in any other open lots over the weekend, but must be back in the appropriate student parking before Monday morning at 7am.

Congratulations to Lt. Whitney on completing the course for Police Supervision!!

Attached is a photo of the attendees of the 2026 Police Supervisor Course held at the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Alfred State Police Academy. Shown from left to right are: Undersheriff Walt Mackney - ACSO (Lead Instructor) Officer Shaun Fields (T/Friendship PD/AU Security), OIC Billy Jack Little (V/Angelica PD), OIC Craig Cornell (V/Bolivar PD/Scio Central School SSO) Sgt. Chauncey Weaver (ACSO), Sgt. Zach Harrington (C/Olean PD), Lt. Matt Whitney (SUNY Alfred UP), Lt. Matt Hettenbaugh (NYSDEC Forest Rangers), Sgt. Cole Finnemore (ACSO), Sgt. Dale Thomas (ACSO). Graduates attended a 115 hour course in Police Supervision that included such topics as: Ethics, Various Roles of the Supervisor, Use of Force, Civil Liability, Community Policing, Critical Incident Management, Employee Assistance, Post Traumatic Incident Procedures, Contemporary Police Issues and others.
