As TSA wait times kept growing and the country was trying to figure out what time they needed to get to the airport, TJ Clayton and Darren Rutledge '28 decided to solve it for everyone (while juggling law school!!)

They built Atlas, a platform that predicts TSA wait times and tells you exactly when to leave.

No more generic "arrive two hours early" advice: just real-time, confidence-scored predictions based on sensor data from 100+ airports and crowdsourced traveler reports.

Selected to pitch in McComb's TVL Investment Competition alongside 29 other UT graduate student startups, TJ shared this key lesson: "We need to fall in love with the problem and not the solution."

Their advice for other student entrepreneurs? Remove the fear, make a plan, and execute.
