Bengali Students Association (BSA) is a cultural organization that has been bringing together all Bengali students since 2011. Since then, BSA promotes, nurtures, and preserves the rich Bengali culture around campus and in the greater Bangladeshi community in Austin. Through philanthropy projects to celebrating traditional events, BSA serves as a platform to bring about a sense of unity and cultural awareness among its members. BSA also contributes to charities and help fund important causes such as raising awareness of children literacy. In 2012, BSA raised $4,000 towards SpaandanB and sponsored a computer lab in Pirojpur, Bangladesh, Smart Class Room in Jessore, Bangladesh, and Swapnadhara Pathshala in Duaripara, Bangladesh. In 2013, BSA quickly raised over $1,000 in response to the garments factory collapse in Savar, Bangladesh to provide immediate relief for the victims. By becoming a member, BSA instills positive values amongst its members, avenue for leadership, and promotes self-betterment.
