Congratulations to Ashwin Rajadesingan for receiving the Ellen A. Wartella Distinguished Research Award and Kate Winkler Dawson for receiving the Creative Achievement Award! Presented at the Fall Kick-off, the Ellen A. Wartella Distinguished Research Award honors one research article authored by a member of the Moody College faculty.

Rajadesingan was recognized for his article “Personal narratives empower politically disinclined individuals to engage in political discussions,” published with co-authors in the Proceedings of the ACM Web Science Conference. Rajadesingan studies how people engage (or don’t) with politics online.

Dawson was recognized for her book "The sinners all bow: Two authors, one murder, and the real Hester Prynne." The book reopens an 1832 New England murder case, the death of Sarah Maria Cornell, and the writer who investigated it in real time and wrote what's considered the first American true-crime narrative.

This summer, students in the Integrated Communications Campaigns class partnered with Mazda, represented by the WPP agency, the largest advertising group in the world. Taught by James Dalthorp, assistant professor of practice in the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations, the class aims to replicate a real-world agency.

“We aren’t just presenting in front of our fellow students like we have in previous classes, we’re presenting in front of real business clients and they’re taking our ideas seriously.”
