Congratulations to Erin Walton on her new publication, "Group-Based Medical Mistrust and Healthcare Utilization Among Racially and Ethnically Minoritized Adults," in the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, https://ow.ly/3pOO50ZZ2Tc.

Erin is a program director in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a PhD student here at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Her study examines how group-based medical mistrust shapes healthcare utilization among racially and ethnically minoritized adults—contributing vital insight to research on trust, healthcare engagement, and health equity.

’s Stacey Stephens, MSW, LCSW-C, clinical associate professor and director of B’More for Healthy Babies Upton/Druid Heights, will be a featured speaker at the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project’s 9th annual “Lynching in Maryland” conference, leading “Impact and Repair from Trauma” to help attendees understand trauma’s effects and explore exercises for daily self-care.

The conference brings together community members, educators, researchers, and advocates to examine Maryland’s history of racial terror lynching, its lasting impact, and pathways toward healing and repair. Keynote speaker Dorothy A. Brown, author of Getting to Reparations, will explore why reparations are necessary for Black Americans and how to move this work forward.

Presented September 22 at the Harford County Family Law Update Symposium, the award honors Seantè's longstanding advocacy for children and families within the family-court system.

For 12 years, Seantè has served as a home study investigator with Harford County Family Court Services—work she continues part-time alongside her CPE leadership. Her clinical perspective helps inform court decisions with lasting effects on children and families, and her dedication embodies the very best of social work values.
