What could the PA profession look like 10 years from now?

During , American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) President David Bunnell, PhD, and Student Academy President Laura Hassan spoke with our PA students about improvements to PA education and what it could take to establish the profession globally. They also shared how students can get involved with AAPA.

Bunnell also directs our Doctor of Medical Science program and is an alum of our PhD in Health Professions Education program.

Honoring Frances Glessner Lee

This year, our Forensic Medicine program honors Frances Glessner Lee, a pioneer in forensic science and creator of the 18 Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death.

These intricate miniature crime scenes were designed to teach investigators how to carefully observe and evaluate evidence, particularly evidence that may have medical importance. Lee believed investigators have a twofold responsibility: to clear the innocent as well as to expose the guilty.

Her legacy continues in the education of our students today. Forensic Medicine master’s students have the opportunity to practice their evidence collection skills using the 18 Nutshell Studies at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland (OCME) during the Homicide Evidence Seminar course offered in the spring.

Happy World Forensic Science Day!

In honor of National Forensic Science Week (September 20–26), we are highlighting the role forensic science plays in helping answer complex questions and serve our communities.

Our Forensic Medicine Master’s program prepares students through study and training in areas including forensic pathology, toxicology, anthropology, and medicolegal death investigation through collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland (OCME).

During National Forensic Science Week, the Forensic Medicine Master’s program hosts its virtual info session, offers an onsite tour, spotlights our current FMED students, and pioneer of the field of forensics.
