Join us at the Hattie Redmond Women & Gender Center on April 9th from 2PM-4PM for the first Crafternoon of the term. The craft will be Beads & Collaging. We will provide the materials needed for the craft, but you are welcome to bring your own. Bring your friends and come hangout! We hope to see you there!🎀

Transfemme Makeup & Mocktails is a FREE event happening on Tuesday, February 18th from 12-2pm. This event is a collaboration between the Pride Center, the Hattie Redmond Women & Gender Center, and Bombshell Transformations (a Portland-based salon and makeup studio).

This event is catered towards Transfeminine individuals who want to learn how to do makeup but don't know where to begin. We’re hoping to cultivate a comfortable and safe space for Transfemmes to build community and learn how to better achieve their desired looks. There are bags of free makeup that you can take home that should serve as a great starting point for your makeup journey!

TODAY, April 8th, is the day Hattie Redmond first registered to vote in Oregon following the victory of the Women's Suffrage vote in 1913! We celebrate it as "Hattie Day!" because Hattie Redmond is credited with laying the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement in Oregon in the mid-twentieth century.    📣 📣 📣   Hattie Redmond was a prominent figure & leader in the struggle for Women’s Suffrage in Oregon, particularly as a Black Woman living in a state that had Black exclusionary laws in its constitution. At the HRWGC we strive daily to honor and center her strong legacy for justice with our Intersectional Feminist, Trauma-Informed, Student & Survivor-Centered programs, events and affirming space we hold both collectively & in community!    📣 📣 📣   Visit the Oregon Encyclopedia to read an article by Janice Dig about Harriet "Hattie" Redmond with historical documents.
