We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gaurav Sahay as Interim Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the OSU College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Sahay joined the OSU College of Pharmacy as an assistant professor in 2014, was promoted to associate professor in 2020, and became a full professor in 2023. During this time, he also became co-director of the Center for Innovative Drug Delivery and Imaging. His lab is known for its work on novel nanotechnology platforms particularly lipid nanoparticles for delivering mRNA therapeutics — with a focus on improving treatments for cystic fibrosis, retinal degeneration, and cancer.
Dr. Sahay completed his postdoctoral research at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Over the course of his career, he has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications in top-tier journals, his research has been supported by NIH, DARPA, biotech companies, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. A Fellow of both the Controlled Release Society and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), he has also translated aspects of his work into biotech ventures he co-founded.
